OK, Im wanted to make a Cocktail Cabinet (First time ever making an Arcade machine). Is it possible to have a screen split in two facing opposite directions so two player games like Street Fighter and others can be played right way up for both people? Or will i have to make an upright machine?
Thanks,
WR

cocktail cabs worked by not having the screen half one way half the other, they swapped when the player changed e.g player 1 would finish one life then the screen would flip to player 2 and so on-are you gonna make a mame machine?
-
Yeah im gonna use mame.
So games like street fight and all those would work with a cocktail cab.
Or would it be possible to make the 2nd players controls swing around next to player 1 to play those games?

Depending on the game, of course. Some cocktail games were horizontal, with the players seated next to each other. Robotron comes to mind.
Most didn't, however.
Games like Street Fighter II don't do well in a cocktail setting.

How do you make it so the screen will switch on the nect persons turn?
-
That can be setup in mame/the frontend you are using. I believe MALA has a setting for this.
Just know this... it can be done!!!
Now you just have to decide, players sit across from each other on the ends, or players sit beside each other on one side.

After looking around i think I have decided to make an upright, due to teh fact that everything can be spaced out for a first try, and all the games i am getting will be mainly for 2 players with or against each other at the same time.
Hopefully i will continue with this plan rather then quit half way through like i normally do with stuff :-\

Start buying parts and thats always a good motivation...
Joysticks, buttons, spinner, trackball, encoder.......
Once you have all those things sitting in a box where you see them everyday you will get the motivation! ;)
