Ok I have two Sharp XM-2001N monitors, one works but the other one keeps blowing a fuse soon as I turn it on. It actually turns the fuse completely black. So I took the board out for closer inspection. First ting that caught my eye was the black coloring around this small transformer (Z0059CE), so I thought I found my problem. But after more examination I noticed the burn marks on the Flyback Transformer, it

That first photo with the flyback: that flyback is definitely SHOT! There are no replacement flybacks for this chassis. The flyback was made special by Sharp for that chassis only. You're screwed.

ken-do you think a wei ya chassis would fit on to one of those monitors?

Specs on the Sharp chassis are low impedance vertical yoke (15 ohms), 8 pin (small diameter) neck, 100 volts isolated power, audio amp and video inverter built in.
A Wei-ya 2420-S (with contrast control!) or 2620-S (no contrast control) will work picture-wise and has a switching supply for operation on as low as 90 volts AC. Does not need an isolation transformer.
A Wei-ya 1220-S (120 volt AC only) will work, but reqiures an isolation transformer.
I did one of these Sharps with a 8liners.com (made by Jen Shinn) replacement chassis because it had to work in a Nintendo cabinet on 100 volt power. The Nintendo cabinet I used was converted for Jamma boards so naturally I did not need video inverter or amplifier board. This came out very nice and had a great picture, however the Jen Shinn already needs a capkit as it is looking crappy now. I'm sure if I replace the el cheapo original capacitors it'll look great again.
Since replacement flybacks are not available for the Sharp chassis, the only hope to be able to use this monitor is to get a universal replacement chassis like the Wei-ya or Jen Shinn.

Just wondering, is their anyway to get a Play Choice 10 Dual Monitor version to work with just one monitor?
-
don't see how as the top monitor is your game menu and credit display
and the bottom monitor is the game play
