Title: Will Cap Kit fix pincushioning on a PC monitor?

Hi all,

I'm currently working on converting an old Bubbles machine into a MAME cabinet and all I have to use is a 17" CRT. I really don't want to spend money on a huge monitor at this point - maybe later. Anyway, a while back I noticed my neighbour had placed an old monitor out with his trash. I quickly grabbed it and brought it home. It's a Hitachi CM2085MU 20" CRT, it would be a great solution for my MAME cab. The only real problem with it is some severe pincushioning. I tried taking the monitor apart and adjusting the trimpots with no luck (there were pots labelled pincush/ vert/ horiz etc). I'm new to all this and I've been reading a lot about cap kits. Would a cap kit solve my problem in this case?

Most computer monitors have programmable pincushion adjustment in a setup menu. However if that doesn't work there's a couple of posibilities:

It needs a capkit

The pincushion correction transistor is bad.

Conveting a Bubbles machine to Mame?  Oh man...you're in for it now...
