Title: More ArcadeVGA pics...
Post by: Minwah on March 17, 2003, 02:28:05 pm
Some of you may be interested to see a few more pics of the ArcadeVGA running on Scart TV.

I have uploaded a few photos that I took a little while ago showing MAME at 640x480 -hwstretch and ZiNc, ZSNES and Gens running at 640x480 unstretched.  All nice results :)

Sorry I haven't had chance to take any more pics of vector games, but I will do so...

Have a look here:

(once again sorry for my poor photography)

Looks awsome. Can't wait till a certain FE will do 640 X 288... hint, hint :)

Wow, that's gorgeous.  I wish I had the balls to handle an arcade monitor so I could use one. lol.

Well, use a TV then, which is what Minah said in the first post.

That looks pretty cool though :)

Do you use Daphne, as I read on the Ultimarc forums that some people were having trouble getting the videos to play properly.

Just wondered if you'd solved that one or not.

Whilst I'm here, are you running a cable from the video card to the scart socket on the TV? If so, did you buy the cable, or did you have to make it up yourself?

No worries about the cable thing. I noticed in another thread about the pin-outs for building your own. Would be interested to hear if they are available to buy though, as my soldering skills are rubbish :(

Oh, and I also noted in another thread that you need to have an arcade monitor hooked up to it in order to install the drivers and things under Windows.

Is this right, or can you install them with a PC monitor or TV attached?

If the TV has a SCART, then you can install the drivers, as it is basically the same as an arcade monitor. You cannot use an S-Video or Composite TV, nor a PC monitor to install the drivers (unless you had a RGB -> NTSC/PAL converter for a TV, or an upscan converter for the PC monitor).

Something else to think about for cab in the future then :)

Bursar:  I bought the pre-hacked cable from Ultimarc which comes with one end of the cable cut and labelled.  I then soldered a scart plug to that (after some time working out what I'd done wrong!).  This is easier that starting out with a new VGA cable, since Andy labels all the wires nicely for you :) (The cable is cheap too).

BirdTales/MannyTC:  It's getting there  ;)
