I replied in that top thread. INHO the sawstop is not needed in a home shop. Check my post over there for my reasoning.

Impressive. Do they have a European distributor already ?

I'm not 100% sure. I know woodcraft is a dealer of them so if you have a woodcraft around you they should have it to check out.

Have you checked the price?  Very expensive!

How much is one finger worth ?

Hey the medical communities can do amazing things pertaining to appendage reattachment.  I have a delta unisaw and love it.  This saw almost leads you to believe that common sense and never underestimating a table saw are not needed!  Just my 2 cents.   :soapbox:

I kind of agree.  This new saw is supposed to save your fingers, but one should never take that for granted as an aging or defective/damaged saw might not stop or stop fast enough.

All this technology does is increase the price of a saw, add more parts, which makes it more prone to failure, and lets weekend carpenters think they can be unsafe with their powertools.

Long story short it's a lot safer for powertools to remain big and scary, it keeps people who shouldn't be using them from trying to use them.

I have to disagree here. While I'll grant that people need to be safe with their powertools, the simple fact is that not everyone is. There is also that fact that someone could easily make a mistake, or get kickback or any one of a thousand other little things that could go wrong that could end up with life-changing consequences. I don't see adding an additional layer of safety as a bad thing. If nothing else, a couple MM deep cut and the $100 to replace the brake/blade will get the attention of most "weekend carpenters".

By your logic, they should go back to plate glass in cars, take out the seatbelts, stop making anti-lock breaks and disable all the airbags. Let's get rid of the safety on guns, ban barrel locks and outlaw double-action triggers while we're at it.

Nobody uses a powertool and 'expects' to have an accident.  If you can afford it, this saw is the real deal and worth it.   I'd love to have one but I can't afford it so my Jet Xacta saw will have to do :)

I was really disappointed inthe Sawstop. I purchased it for sawing hot dogs in half and it stops every time I try to cut one!  >:D
