Title: Setting up controls for spinner, trackball, and light gun
Post by: rdowdy95 on August 08, 2006, 05:11:26 pm
Hey guys,

I want to know how to set up a spinner, USB trackball, and lightgun.  Are these pretty much going to just work when I plug them in?  I will be using a HAPP USB Trackball, and a SlikStik Tornado Spinner, and the actlabs USB TV Light gun.

So inside the mame.ini I need to set the mouse to a 1 right?  This is so the spinner and the trackball will work?  For the light gun, I think they say if I leave it plugged in it should keep its settings so I don't have to recalibrate everytime.

Also will a light gun go through clear lexan/plexi glass?

Another thing, the monitor shelf will have a bout a 15degree tilt, will that mess up the aiming very bad?

Yes, mouse=1 in mame.ini.  You will also have to map each of the controls in mame's in-game 'input settings', since they will each have a different 'mouse' identifier number as of v0.105.  For the lightgun, there is a trick to mapping in mame:

And I believe you only need to recalibrate whenever the screen resolution changes.  I usually recalibrate each time I start a game though.
