Hi,
I've setup advancemame and arcadeos. Mame works fine and arcaceos also runs, but no roms in the rom list. When I first run the arcadeos.exe I get this:
Getting information list from MAME
- listxml | xml2info >C:\xl$.tmp
and the depending on how the legacy setting is (0/1) I get a brief "Bad command or filename" and then "processing list", or no errors and "processing list". The result is however the same: NO roms in the list. If I open the mame.lst its only about half a line in lenght and is "gibberish". I've tried some solutions from earlier like defining the rom-directory with its full path in the advmame.rc, but it doesn't help. Like I said mame works, so the dir_rom -setting must be correct. Advancemame is the latest and so is arcadeos.
Any clues? I know this problem is propbably very simple and I never thought that I really have to ask you guys something this "embarrassing", but here I am. Help! ;)

I asked this very question like a week ago and never got any replies.
So, after some thorough poking around, I found that arcadeos apparently doesnt work with advancemame past version .83. So I just ended up getting the Easy Mame Cab setup from here:
http://www.msu.edu/user/jonesdes/easycab.htm
I had it set up advancemame with advancemenu, which I turned out to be much more fond of than arcadeos anyway.
good luck!
edit again:
another post says this:
The problem isn't the config or the paths to the rom files at all.
The whole problem lies in "XML2INFO.EXE".
You *MUST* download this from a DOS MAME BINARY distribution.
The easiset way to tell if this is your problem is to run "xml2info.exe" at the command prompt in dos. If it reports "This programm cannot be run in DOS mode" then you have pulled the wrong version.

IIRC xml2info.exe comes with AOS 2.52. I think. Lemme check...
Crap! I knew I forgot to add something.
ArcadeOS 2.52 now has this in it's .zip file, and I'll make it available as a seperate download.
