Title: Advancemame and ArcadeVGA video setup
Post by: MrD on July 16, 2006, 12:37:43 pm
I've searched everywhere and I can't find any help with this setup:

I've got an ArcadeVGA card and I'm using AdvanceMame(0.96) /AdvanceMenu in DOS.

I know that AdvanceMame is basically trying to replicate what the ArcadeVGA card is doing.  I've got it to mostly "work" but I can't get any of the higher res modes to work.  My vector games don't look very good.

I know I can switch back to dmame with arcadevga but the load times with dmame seemed way too long compared to advmame.  Even after I turned off the validity checking.

I know I can use advancemame and change out the video card but I also run some older DOS games (Dragon's Lair and the SIERRA Software games) and I need the ArcadeVGA card to run those properly.

Is there anyway to get AdvanceMame to juse use the standard video modes that are in the ArcadeVGA and not try and fix it itself?   I've tried to use advcfg and advv but I can't get the modes I want to work.

I read somewhere to "set device_video vbe" but then advcfg wouldn't start so there most be more then one setting that I need.

Any help would be appreciated.
