Hi all!
I just installed the new version of the wonderful Mala frontend.
My problems is:
The games take forever to start. Through Mame32 they start right away.
Also in Mala, the resolution is screwed(in games), in this case shifted to the left and loss of geometry.
So, Mala mustmess with the resolutions settings somehow. If I start in Mame32, no problem.
The desktop is set to 640x480@60hz 16bit colour. So is Mame32.
What is wrong here? Can Mala in any way force Mame32 to change anything?
Thanks,
Nicholas

I tried it and did not notice any change in loading speed. I started games from multiple emulators with no problem or long delay at all. I use a 640x480@60hz with 32 bit color ...... but I use command line Mame instead of Mame32 .....

Ditto.. No res or speed problems for me either ???
I also use the command line version of mame
It does not sound like a MaLa issue. Your subject title is unfortunate. I hope it does not discourage SWINDUS from further development :-[
Let's try and help..... ;)
Questions for AE35:
1) Mala like all the other FE's launch mame from a command line (except mame32 where it is built in). I don't know when mame32 is run from a command line if it will use settings made in the bulit in mame32 GUI.?? FYI The settings for the command line version of mame is kept in a failecalled mame.ini. so..... My question is.. What happens when you launch a game from a command prompt? EG C:\mame32\mame32.exe pacman.
2) What settings do you have on this mala tab (see attached pic)

Sorry, we don't want that! I love Mala, and wouldn't consider anything else.

Enable 'debug log' on the help tab in the options dialog and start a game with MaLa.
Then you should find something similar in the MaLa log file:
2006.07.03 13:35:13.33 Info: Starting: Set dir: E:\mame0104b\
2006.07.03 13:35:13.35 Info: Starting: Create process: mame.exe jedi
2006.07.03 13:35:32.77 Info: Starting: Set dir: E:\MaLa\
Post it please.
As you can see MaLa sends only the rom name as parameter, nothing else, apart from you have alter the MAME command line in MaLa.

I'm sorry.
I re-installed everything, and it works perfectly now!
Sorry to bother you:(
