Title: Need an extremely shallow 19" CRT
Post by: USSEnterprise on June 26, 2006, 11:51:33 am
My cabinet is built, and the only thing holding me back is the monitor. I built the cab as a space saver upright. Problem is, most 19" CRT's won't fit it. Now I'm stuck between getting a $130 19" LCD from tigerdirect which will probably look like crap, or finding a 19" CRT monitor that is only 12" deep. Does such a monitor exist?

A 19" tube that's only 12" deep? I don't think so!

So much for saving space, eh?

Cut a hole in the back big enough to let the monitor come out.  Then box that in.

This is why it is best to buy all your parts before building your machine.

I did. I had a 19" CRT. only after construction began did I realize that at the cab's size, it wouldn't fit down my cellar.

Easy fix.

Even better: an outside entrance to the basement

Or assemble in the basement.....   Maybe make the cab a bit modular.....  I think Slikstick's is easy to build and disassemble, maybe some idea's there.

LCD monitor might look good as well, they seem to be improving every day (and getting cheaper too).
