Title: Stripping paint off shellac
Post by: USSEnterprise on June 03, 2006, 12:49:44 pm
I just picked up an old (1915) Columbia Hand Crank Console Record Player at a garage sale for $20, and yes, it fits down my basement  :P
It is painted pink with little hearts all over the place. Makes me want to vomit wildly into the air. Is there any way I can strip the paint off while saving the original finish (shellac)?

Beating it against an old soda machine will take the paint off, but I think it might chip off some of the shellac too! :laugh2:

Why not just re-shellac it and strip both off? Shellac is a pain in the ass though.
