My lawn was looking great, but we left for the 3 day weekend and when I came back it looked like it was covered in weeds. It was really hot and dry (over 90 degrees F in MN) so I'm not sure if that caused it. But Since I got back I've been trying to water as much as I can. Here are a few pictures...

mow it.

I plan on doing that tonight ;D because the tru-green chemlawn people are supposed to show up tomorrow. Anyone know the name of this type of weed?

sorry to keep being absolutly no help at all..but...at my house I call it "grass" :laugh2:
seriously though...I feel bad, but it does make me laugh..plus ...when I type in your thread, it bumps it back up to the top, giving you a better chance of someone smart seeing it and telling your your actual answers...right?
I have some stuff growing in my mulch..it looks like a fungus of some sort, like...a mushroom, but no stem, and it kinda looks spiderwebbish where it actually touches the mulch on the edges.
there. now we're both looking for answers. :D

you want the truth? you can't handle the truth.......

Looks to me like your grass is seeding. ;)
Its normal and usually last about 10 days or so. The individual blades of grass grow longer and have little seeds on top. Its not a bad thing. Makes your grass look bad, but its normal. Your neighbors should have the same thing going on unless you have different types of grass than they do.

Thanks Hoopz! That sounds like good news! The neighbor on one side has so many dandelions, I have no idea what their grass looks like underneath, but I noticed that a few houses down the street had the same thing as me. I guess I'll just wait it out...hopefully it'll clear up next week.

Checked your profile and assume you are in Wisconsin. You are north of me so it would be a couple of weeks after ours seeded that yours would start.
Surprised that this thread hasnt turned into a birds and the bees topic yet or talking about other types of grass that could be grown....
First summer in the house?

First summer in the house?
First summer in the house while married ;D. I didn't have anyone to nag me about how bad the lawn looked when I was the only one around last summer.

LOL that's when I tell her is she doesn't like it to go mow it herself, which, typically means we don't have that conversation for another year.

Cover everything with round up. Takes care of weeds easy. Kills everything else, including dogs and children, but still good.

'Round Up'...quite possibly the most deadly liquid you can buy legally...and, yet, I love it. :)

Either that or muratic acid. also fun >:D

I believe vinegar also kills weeds - and it's a lot safer\environmentally friendly.

If it doesn't kill them, you can eat them and they'll taste great. :laugh2:
