The NEW Build Your Own Arcade Controls

I posted this in the genral arcade section, but I guess it is really a project.
I have been busy expanding the gameroom. I have reclaimed 200 square feet for a nice open space for a bar and a cocktail table. I still need to build a couch in the window area (partially shown) and run another couple of circuits back to the breaker box. This photo shoot was on temp power in the expansion. I have since stained the bar darker and picked up a few more stools at Ikea.

Just let us bay area folks know when to come by, I have a ton of beer to donate :)

I'm jealous beyond description. You have basically posted an example of my childhood dream that I've never let go of.
I need to find a way to make millions quickly so I can build a new home with space for this. Right now my wife and I are in a condo and we only have room for one cabinet...
-
You are my new hero.
-
Very nice

Very nice! :) I'm curious......why do you have the marquee on Mappy folded down? Is the ceiling a bit too low? Either way, I think Mappy's a great game and has a nice cabinet.
-
wow.... can i be ur wife?
-
Thanks for all the great comments.
Sorry null, I already have a wife! :)
Yes, the ceiling is too low for the Mappy Marquee to open! It will open again at CAX in a few months

aww darn lol

Me thinks the bar is taking up too much room. You need some more games. (j/k)
Looks great!

WOW! I only have 10-20 games to go. ;D
-
Wow, amazing assortment of games. You've got almost all my favorites. I bet people would spend a good couple hours in that room easily! My only gripe is that Ataxx isn't the two trackball variety. That's the way I first played it, and I still feel it's best for that game.
Great stuff! :applaud:
-
If you can find me a dedicated Ataxx in the San Jose area, point me to it. I have an NOS marquee ready to install to boot.

Nice work Tom!!! That is great.
We need more pictures like that so we can all show our wives that we are normal. And that we spend way less that other guys :).
-
You would be surprised how much I haven't spent. I try to trade when possible.
:)
The only exception was the ground up Williams Multigame.

-
Shh shh. But I'll never tell my wife that!
That's some astounding trading. I wish I had a basement to put games in. That is an excellent gameroom.

Notice the williams Multigame with your CPO? "W"
:)

Yes yes, I did notice that. My proofing skills are not quite all there I'm afraid. I'd have to say I almost always have a revision after I think I'm finished. Doh.
-
WOW that's a awesome collection. Have you given any thought to adding a Foosball table or maybe air hockey?
-
What? No front shot of that Radikal Bikers? Heh.
If you need a backup boardset for it, I have one that I'll let you have for cheap. It looks as though it'd go to a good home.

Very nice. My friend in Virgina has about 20 games in his basement plus a pool table. He also got about 7 or so in the garage that needs fixing. I thought he was crazy for having that many games until I saw this. At least your game room has nice feel of home. Every time I visit him, I spent all night playing. We start about 7pm and stop about 3am.

Geez. Way to make a guy feel guilty for not having completed the MAME conversion you so graciously donated.
Your gameroom ROCKS!

Damn :o.. Very nice Tom!!

Total drool !!!
I may be on holiday in the states this summer, what are your opening hours ;)

That is great!! I am hoping to finish my basement in the next few months. I have decided on a game room instead of a dedicated home theater. I think the game room will get much more use.
Only have one machine to start. But seeing your gives me something to shoot for.
What a great room.
