Title: FIXED: Strange black square using ArcadeVGA, JPAC and Arcade Monitor.....
Post by: JLR2000 on March 31, 2006, 09:53:03 pm
Ok, I capped my monitor and tested it with a jamma board and all was great.  Now I plugged in my ArcadeVGA (7000 version) with a JPAC and a PC.  Windows looks good, but when I run windows mame running Golden Tee (different versions) I get this strange black square in the lower right hand corner (see pics http://jlr2000.googlepages.com/home (http://jlr2000.googlepages.com/home)).

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?  It's only when I run mame.... ???

Thanks in advance for your input...

Ive seen it too, but have no idea what it is.  I normally see it in MameWah.  I have AVGA 7000 series and WG D9200.

Were you able to resolve it?  I'm just running the latest command line version of windows mame and I see it??

UPDATE:  I just needed to get the right video mode going, once I used the tools listed on the Ultimarc site to create video mode inis all was good.

Unfortunately I still have the square on mine occasionally (not all the time.)  How exactly did you resolved it again??

First experiment with other resolutions in Windows to see if you can get the square.  I found that if I change Win resolution to 800x600 the square appeared (vs 640x480).  I then downloaded and ran this:

http://www.ultimarc.com/avres.zip (http://www.ultimarc.com/avres.zip)

per the recommendation on the Ultimarc site.  It creates ini files with the best resolution for each game.  Make sure the ini file path is set in the mame.ini as well.  Once I did that the square was gone.  Pretty simple actually.....

Good Luck.
