Title: How to filter out NES and SNES roms.
Post by: electricd on March 10, 2006, 02:22:33 pm
Hello,

I have a ton of NES and SNES roms.  Is there an easy way to filter out the Japanese ones and all the clones?  I am really only interested in playing the US versions and only 1 of each.  Is there like an MCM program for these types of ROMS?  Thanks!

Yup.  I filtered mine down to about 700 or so.   All the US non clone ones pretty much.  I used this romsorter program that some dude on the boards wrote.  I will try to find the link and post it here.  It lets you assign "points" to each criteria and then filters out the games that don't have enough points.

I used MCM for the mame roms...

Awesome...i use MCM for mame, and would love something like this for NES, SNES, N64, etc.

I used GoodNES too I think first to get them all renamed properly, then used the program above to filter them out.

I should probably edit old posts to point to a new link.  SBCglobal only has a 25 meg space limit so I just paid for some hosting since then and moved everything.  The link going forward should be:

http://www.transwarped.com/ROMSorter.zip

I don't plan on deleting the old link, but you never know what might happen.  Any future updates are guaranteed to appear on the new link but not the old.

Also, if anyone has any questions about this program, or has any input regarding how to make it better, let me know.

Hi,

I developped a tool for filtering roms. You can find it on https://github.com/benjdum59/filterRoms.
