Post by: mark6437 on February 25, 2006, 12:32:57 pm
With auctions like this,

How long do yall think it will be before some more recent GT games will be added to Mame?

Probably not for a while, since:

GT2005 is still marketable for Incredible Technologies, and

GT2005 is rendered in VGA 3d graphics, so the ability to emulate the game by any home computer of modern times will be nil.

Ok thx for responding.
I did not know GT2005 was rendered like that. I guess that nixes it for a long long time then, seeing how MAME is not in a hurry to change the way it renders.

Thx

I own GT 2005.  It is actually EGA rather than VGA, but will also run on a standard CGA monitor by flipping a dipswitch on the motherboard.  It's graphics are not high-tech 3D like GT Live or PGA Championship; it's much simpler, so I'm pretty sure it will run on a High-end PC system once it's released.

It is my understanding that the FORE games are already emulated, but the MAME DEVs will not release it until sometime after IT stops selling the GT FORE COMPLETE upgrade.  Probably another year or two.

If one had say, a GT 2000 cocktail, could you buy this and swap it in?

My bad, momentary lack of reason. I knew it was EGA, but.. y'know, brainfart.

However, I doubt an emulated GT2005 will be palyable on any PC for the foreseeable future. While the 3D isn't as complex as Live!, it is far more complex than say... Battle Arena Toshenden. But hey, I'd love to be wrong about this.
