Title: Neo Geo Cabinet question
Post by: JackTucky on February 09, 2006, 01:33:32 pm
I don't know much about the cabinet at the moment.  It has a 25" monitor.  Are Neo-Geo's jamma ?  Could I put a Blitz PCB in there?

If no, could I use the monitor, joysticks, etc., and mame it?  Not sure if neo-geo worth saving, but I would mame it without ruining it.

It depends on how many game carts in can take. If more than one I think you have to change some of the wiring.  This site has a lot info on neo-geo http://www.hardmvs.com/index.htm (http://www.hardmvs.com/index.htm)

If it's a single slot Neo-Geo board it's pretty much JAMMA.  The multi-slot boards are different due to the game switching.  If all the parts are present, doing a restoration wouldn't be a bad thing.  Games can be readily bought off eBay for pretty cheap now depending on what you're looking for.  Post up a pic so we can see what you got.

It's a 2 slot with two games, and it's on ebay.  They guy wants $300 for it.  I thought that was too much.  Asking questions here in case I make a counter offer.

I probably won't go for it.  Here it is....  (don't know how to shorten URL's. ) ::)

I paid CDN$300 for my MVS-2-25 and it was worth every penny (although the local price has dropped in recent months due to the absence of one particular bidder at SB auctions). It sees more play than anything else.

The one in the auction is a conversion in a Dynamo cab and I am not wild about the "square" button positioning.

Cheers.

Yeah, you can put a blitz in there, but you really need the special 39 way joysticks.  They are expensive.

Neo-geo's are pretty much Jamma. You can download the manual.  There's that 4th button to deal with.  I think it actually fits on the wire after Button 3 on the harness, but don't quote me on that.  I never wired one up.

Neo Geo 1 slots vary on price on ebay. I have one I paid $45 for at an auction that works. But I see them sell on ebay for 50-120 depending on who's bidding.

There's an auction in Nashville this Saturday you can probably pick up a blitz if you want. 10:00 at the fairgrounds.  It's only 5 hours from Indy.

I've been wanting to make an auction trip anyway.  I'm 10 miles from Louisville, so I'm even closer.

Hmmmmmmm
