Hi all,
I'm planning on building a CP finally, but I've been out of the loop for so long that all my original plans have been forgotten so I'd like to ask for some help as well if I may.
Requirements:
2 Player controls, fighter sticks (?) 6xButtons (+2 for consoles), 2x Start buttons, credit buttons, menu & exit buttons.
Console compatability, preferably PS2 for Streetfighter 3 :)
Size; I'm looking at a size that is the same as the JPN cabinets used for fighting games, not too big though.
I have the artwork in progress, and yes you guessed it, its Street Fighter themed, I'll post some previews up later when it gets close to being finished.
I suppose I should mention that I'm UK based so it would be nice if I could source all the components nationally
Erm, I think thats about it, slap me if I've missed anything and thanks for reading :)

Heres the layout

best fighter sticks, IMO, are the P360. A little pricey, but definitely worth it... Nice art work, did you hand draw that?
-
nice- i like the classic capcom artwork

Thanks guys, I'll probably make my own artwork towards completion, what are the best buttons to use for fighter? and is there a recommended spacing between them? Capcoms defaut seems a bit far apart

I dealt with this same topic a few weeks ago. I had an old MAS stick that used the capcom template from the 90s, and the buttons felt very uncomfortable to me after about 5 minutes of play. I decided I was going to use a japanese layout cause I thought it was the straight button layout that was unfortable- but it was in fact the button spacing (they were like 2 " apart).
After checking out the forums there was a lot of people that like 1 1/2" or 1-3/8" apart. I drilled out some holes on scrap wood and preferred the 1-3/8". I know it is a tiny difference, but I could feel it- so I'd suggest drilling some out and finding your preference.
You can't go wrong as far as buttons go, its just a matter of preference of concave or convex

Cheers,
got a link to the Japanese layout at all? I've got the straight 6 button layout and would be very interested to see the difference

here is a pic of an astro city panel. The shape may seem weird at first, but if you just lay your hand on a table thats the config your fingers should naturally be in.

there is also the "japanese console stick" layout, which is pretty good too. It's pretty much american style, with the first column of buttons moved down half way between the second column of buttons

Offtopic, but I once knew a guy we called Crispy from the UK, so I have to ask ... ever been to Toronto ?
Cheers.
