"These units orginally cost $7600, now they are available for: Closeout Kiosk: $1500..."
Wow now that's pricey, no CPU included, too. I'd consider hacking one for a jukebox station if they were like 100-150 bucks or something. but 1500? would anyone pay that much?

$1500 is a bargain for a kiosk like that. We pay a lot more than that for gift registry kiosks for our stores.

$1500 is NOT a bargain for a fibreglas box and a 17" monitor.

I remember pricing kiosks and alternatives for work, for pay-as-you-go internet at a college. Priced both full size standups, sitdowns(like the old tv booths at the airport) and even tabletops(like the megatouchs at the bar) and the cheapest I found was like 1500 for the enclosure, PLUS the cpu. that was the table top. 5-10k seems liek the range that they were for the bigger ones though
Part of the cost has to be making a machine that'll stand that kind of wear n tear, security, and also customized ready to go software

get a book on fibreglas.... you could make one of those in a weekend.
If you can make a Mame cabinet you can make a mold.

Well that's what I was thinking, but you know how some companies can be - anything for a tax write-off.

Brax you ever done anything with fiberglass? Its a lot more than a weekend project. Besides this thing is more than a fiberglass front.

I've made several pieces. Have you? It's nice to have no shortage of experts around here.
When I was 10 I helped my dad form a new engine cowl for one of our tractors. Slap some release agent on the old part (our mold) the release agent was vaseline! ;) Put your fibreglas cloth down..... polyester resin.... Harden.... flip it over.... add a second layer.. Trim.... sand ... gel coat.... paint. Done. WEAR A RESPIRATOR!
I've since made some waterfalls for friends ponds.
It's not that hard.
In my opinion, critics are usually those that can't do what they're criticsing.

I didn't mean to insult you so please don't take it personally. I've done fiberglass repair but never molded anything from scratch, I'll admit that. From my limited experience I think that its a little harder than what your trying to portray it as. Most people even those with tools are not going to have the tools necessary to complete this.
To get back to the topic, $1500 is a lot of money for someone to buy a kiosk to use in their basement. $1500 is nothing for a company to spend for a well built kiosk that is designed to last for years in a retail or manufacturing environment.
I've got a kiosk in my basement that I got for free from where I work. It works great as a jukebox. mame.hower.us/jukebox (http://mame.hower.us/jukebox)
