Title: Got me a CAB "pic's inside"
Post by: MAME TIME on January 23, 2006, 01:06:11 am
Hey guys
New to the forum, Picked me up a mk2 cab at a auction in (toronto) it looks like it was converted to play SF alpha 3, the monitor works but the game doesn't, someone hacked the CP cause the MK2 has the 5 button setup other holes were drilled to accomadate the 6 button SF layout, messy drilling is causing the buttons to loose, so i decided perfect mame cab, picked up a I-pac cause i'm making my own CP, so here's my question

1, i have a wells Gardner (25k7197) 25" monitor (25khz and 53khz refresh) how do i rig this up to my pc, i heard arcadevga, anyone have Diagrams,

2,im confused as to how im going to run the power in the cab, the switch at the top would power my monitor and marquee, while i would have the PC power up on its own

Heres some pics

off topic, how do you know the SFA3 game isn't working ?
if the cabinet is a medium res monitor, I can understand why it wouldn't display a picture as SFA3 is a low res 15k JAMMA game although it would make no sense fo it to have a 15k JAMMA game installed in a medium res environment - but it should still at least power the CPS2 board, if the fans kick in on the CPS2 but you get no sound from the game then I would hazzard a guess that the CPS2 has commited Capcom Suicide (the internal battery has died), if however you can hear it say "this is Street Fighter Alpha 3" then i'd be confident the game works okay. Even if the board has committed suicide, you can still have the eeproms re-programmed by Razoola from CPS2Shock

will the SFA3 and marquee be for sale at any point ? SFA3 blue boards aren't as common as the Japanese green ones. it would be worthit to someone to get the board pheonixed

I actually allready have SFA3 - both a blue version and an All In One Black version, but i do think it would be worthwhile to someone who would be interested in fixing it via CPS2 Pheonix fix.

it might be worth eBaying it - the marquee aswell

are you sure the monitor is a medium res one ?

That cab looks like it's in good shape aside from the "Frankenstien" job they did turning it into SFA3. If I were you, I'd give a shot at restoring it's exterior to how it would have looked in it's MK2 days, since all you seem to need is a repro Marquee and CPO (and you'll likely have to cut a new control panel, since you said the drill job they did was messy). So yeah, I'd try to do an MK2 Mame Machine. 8)

thats the exact plan i have in mind, my mk2 marquee should be on my doorstep in a day or so and i just started my new control panel, its going to stay with the mk2 theme, should look good, im going to get the alpha board tested and sell it along with the marquee and the 2 instruction cards
