Title: Videos slow to kick in with MameWah?
Post by: JoyMonkey on January 17, 2006, 07:43:35 am
I've been out of the MameWah loop for some time now and figured I'd give it another try. I've been using either GameLauncher on DOS machines or playing around with Kymaera (http://sourceforge.net/projects/kymaera) on Windows machines- I really like Kymaera because of how easy it is to get going and how well it handles video files as artwork (it's excellent for using the Intro Movies (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=45467.0)).

One thing I notice about MameWah (I'm using v1.61) is that each video preview takes a second to kick in, unlike Kymaera where the videos run seamlessly as you move through the gamelist. Am I missing a a setting somewhere or is this something that the newer version of MameWah fixes?

In Mamewah.ini

### Movie Options ###

I forget how small you can go in 1.61 and speed of your system including hard drive I imagine will have an impact.

100th of a second (at least that is what it is in the latest beta...but I think I set that a long time ago).  As you say tho in reality the system won't keep up with that and it will probably have an adverse effect - so a bit of trial and error is probably required.
