Im in the crawl space and need a reason to justify running cat5e to the kitchen.. sounds like a good idea but for what..........

If you have the spare wire, theres this thing called the future.
I just moved into a new house, and being 15 I helped the elctrician wire about 80% of the house, and did about 45% of it solo. One thing he told me is that since we bought reels of the wiring, use it! We ended up using cat 5e wire for the PHONE lines, thats how much we had left. Plus, I ran an extra 3 of them from my room to the central panel, and Ive found uses for them, so never second-guess something like that... USE IT ANYWAYS.
On the other hand, if you dont have the wire and youll ahve to cut your walls and crap to get it up there, dont bother. They invented something called wireless now :)

I'm just amazed that you have net access in your crawlspace. Drag a laptop in with you? ;)
I just saw a net-enabled fridge at sears.

So you're ready when you decide to get a net capable fridge or Tivo in the kitchen.
