Well, at least in bowling. For lefties, it is great to be the minorities. Their shot or line rarely ever changes, so they can just stay in the same spot every nite and hardly have to move or adjust. I have to make sustantial adjustment each nite, for your bowlers out there, if there are any, about 10-12 boards a nite, sucks but you get used to it. I get stuck bowling the one chick every week pretty much and I have to shoot 240's to have a realistic chance of beating her and she has been doing good lately. Avg is based on a 100 % of 235 handicap system.....so a 200 avg bowler gets 35 pins. I get 25 pins and she is getting like 70, really fun when she is shooting 190's and 200's. This really has no meaning and just give me a place to cry since I'm just really getting my arse kicked by a woman. life is sad ( for me ) ....here's a pdf of the league if your interested.

Dude, 12 boards a night? Are you coating your ball with sandpaper?
-
hehe ehhe he
you said 'suck'

;D ;D

I don't understand how lefties have it any easier than "normals". Surely it's exactly the same challenge only mirrored? I mean it's not like it's baseball or anything where lefties are 3 steps closer to first than "normals" which puts them at an advantage. Please explain?

Thants on a good nite...our lane are on the dry side to begin with. I use a higly polished ball to begin with to try and overcome this. I fall in the cranker category since I use alot of lane to begin with. My feet are positioned 34 and I throw the ball over 20 at the arrows out to 10-7 and my break point is about 45-47 feet. ( that is my idea shot I am most comfortable with ). When the really break down, I'm standing againt the ball return and playing the same mark but now send the ball over 23-25.
Sometimes play the ball in tighter to reduce the hook and speed if I'm tired.

Yes, I said suck beavis
;D ;D HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa ;D ;D
You lost to a girl!
Just messing with ya. Get even, take her out and -insert crude term for intercourse here- her and then don't call the next day.
Well, she like 40 something, little out of my range...and she lets me know every week when she does beat me...
:'(
Cheers,

Ditto to what Chad said. I think last time I read, there were like 9 righties to every 1 leftie. So the right side breaks down in a hurry, when you have alot of people there. The biggest problem to someone who uses the center of the lane to throw the ball to the outside is when you have someone who just throw the ball down the middle. This tends to push the oil the outside and dry up the middle, this is what they call a reverse block, not fun to bowl on at at all.

edit : take my grammar with a grain of salt, looked at one of my posts and it looks like ghetto, lmao

Weird.
When I go bowling, I just roll the round black thingy at the white thingies. I think the goal is to kill as many white thingies as you can. Oh. and I drink to. That's always important.
I never knew that you could defend and block, and reverse block, and had to know "numbers" and ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---. Maybe we are talking about 2 different things here.
-
Lefties suck in bowling and you lost to a girl in bowling, so you suck at bowling, which means you're a lefty.
-
No, that's not "block" as defend, it's just a lane condition term.

hmmm....do lefties really suck ?, no not really.
hmmm... I lost to a girl... yes
hmmmm....I suck at bowling......bring it ;D
hmmm....I'm a lefty....been discussed.
but yes I suck at bowling, but have my moments....

I would like to bowl again sometime. Haven't been since I left college.
-
Lefties have rights too.........
-
That's just so stupid I had to
-
Well all I can say is that if you are so concerned with this, then you aren't drinking enough. Beat by a girl? meh - I was drunk. It makes a great excuse as well as being fun! Bowling was invented as a means to drink.
-
i dunno what youre talking about but..
RIGHT HANDED FTW!!

I'm betting your spares are either all over the place, or a nice fat sonofabeach ringing 10. Since you crank, what do you do to straighten out your hook for those 10 pins? Someone taught me long ago to take my middle finger out to lessen the hook, but what do you do?
I hate the up-against-the-return feeling >:(
-
imagine the flack he'd get if he was beat by a girl and din't get any for letting her win........

What's this 10-7, 45-47, 23-25 business? just put the heaviest bowl you can carry down the middle at full power if you want to play properly. ;D
-
Does it count if I get a strike in a different lane?

it counts as two strikes
-
So I got the first score of 600 in a bowling game.
Sweet

Its what us losers who spend to much time in bowling alleys talk about. Ever notice those arrows out on the lanes ? Those are spaced 5 boards apart and coincide with the dots on the approaches where you stand and help you line up your shot. Sometimes when I'm really bowling bad, I do just that throw it so hard that feels like I'm dislocating my shoulder but dam it is so pretty when you hit the pins.
Does it count if I get a strike in a different lane?
Anything counts if your drunk enuff

You'll have less of an issue if you stop depending on the pretty monster hook. A moderate hook usually worked best for me, did the job of angling into the rack and wasn't all that sucseptible to lane conditions.
What is your ball made of?
-
True story:
I once got 2 strikes with one roll. Honest.
The reason:
The previous bowler had knocked a pin out past the gate and so was stuck in the gutter. When I rolled, I clipped it, the ball got kicked back into the center of the lane and I got a strike. MEANWHILE, the pin that got clipped flipped up into the air end over end into the lane to my right. Right smack dab into the middle of the pins and voila! 20 pins with 1 ball. They crowned me the king of bowling right then and there.
And I'm not even gonna get INTO my beat by a girl story. It still stings too much.

It is just that particular hourse I bowl that way in. The lanes determine that. I prefer to play a much tighter line when possible. Most ball are now made of reactive resin which tends to be more aggressive. I have a urethane ball which actually works a little bit better as far as cutting down the hook, but my thumb is hanging at the end and I just don't have the time during the week to go and have that fixed.

I forget what my ball is made of... not plastic, I have one of those and those barely hook at all. It was the next step up in 1997... so maybe Urethane.

but the pretty monster hook amazes everyone and gets me all the girls, well at least I keep telling myself thatl
Tim

Yeah, until it hits a dry patch and flies over the three lanes to the left.

Will definitely be either urethane or resin. Resin came out in about '95. You may have a resin coverstock with urethane core.

The only time I ever found lanes quite that dry were at nationals, ewww...wicked dry. Dry lanes don't bother me much. I've learned to adjust to them over the years. I prefer oil, but
do well on either condition. I'm avg 210 atm and finished up the summer at 220. One of the main reasons anyone uses hook is it provide more error room if you miss your mark.
