Title: Game Instructions?

I know this is probably a stupid question. But.... there are a few games for mame that I've downloaded. and i can't figure out how to play them correctly. (I don't mean setting them up) actual game play. Like how do you win or what's the object. Any place that describes the actual game in a little more depth than A=Fire button,  B= Jump etc..
