i sold a burgertime to a guy in LA. when the shippers(NAVL) got it to him and he turned it on the screen says mapping ok and then shows a bunch of pics of the chef. any ideas on how to get this working? did something come loose during shipping? any help would be appreciated.

Not much could "come loose" during shipping, unless a component that sticks up above the board got torn loose, or the socketed chips need to be pressed in. Reminds me of this, though. Years ago, a repair shop I frequent was working on a Burgertime board. A tech was pressing on the chips and didn't notice the soldering iron cord under the board. When the pins punctured the insulation, it shot 110V to the board and blew out half the chips. From that day forward, whenever one of the techs totally FUBARed anything, the others said he had "Burgertimed it".

The usual advice (which your buying will get mad at if he's at all "tech-phobic"):
1. With power off, check that all connectors are secured, and press on all socketed chips to make sure they are firmly in the sockets.
2. Check that the TEST switch isn't on.
3. Measure voltage to the board. (This is the part they will really balk at).
4. Find out if they are using a very long electrical cord, and advise them not to do so.
