Title: DVI output to TV RGB input
Post by: Nyrine on January 31, 2003, 03:25:08 pm
Is this possible ?

I have a GeForce2 GTS card lying around that I'd like to hook up to a TV for MAME. It has a VGA and a DVI output, my TV has RGB (and SVHS) input.

If its not possible to connect the DVI to the RGB then I'll need to look for a new card with SVHS output =)

Thanks !

You'll have to find the manual for your card. It'll say wether or not it has TV out. Most cards with TV-out and a DVI connector have a dongle that plugs into the DVI port that gives you S-Video.

Almost no cards output TV-Compatable RGB signals.

There is the Radeon 8500 that outputs a DVI signal which (using an ATI adapter sold separately :(  ) can be used as standard rgb in to the component port on new TV's. According to ATI the RGB signal is contained in the DVI output so my understanding is that it's pure RGB out to the TV's component in with the adapter serving as an "interface" but not a converter
