I've got these sticks (made in China I believe), and perhaps this explains part of my possible trouble. The other reason could just be that I'm a dummy, and can't figure out something this simple. Anyways, I've got these sticks, and I can't figure out how to switch between 4 way and 8 way. I've seen things on the internet about changing this dial on the bottom, but I've looked at it, and for the life of me, I can't see how changing this dial would make any difference. Nothing moves other than the dial, and from one position to the other seems the same. I've attached pictures. If you want to see something clearer, I will see what I can do.
Thank-you in advance.

The restrictor should be a square so that when you turn it 45 degrees, it blocks the diagonals.

Maybe your plate has a chamfered hole, which, by turning it upside down, might desensitise it, but I think you need the square one to truly switch between 4 or 8 way action.

I can give you a square restrictor if you want.

I actually did notice that the hole was slightly chamfered, and was wondering that, but never did try it. I would agree that the square hole would be better. (Never have had one to try / compare.)

Ok sorry, when I said they didn't work super great I meant that they don't work super great compared to a sanwa joystick.
