Yahoo! I got my marquee, cp art and side art back from Scott at Mamemarquees!
I couldn't be happier with the results. Scott was great to work with. He tweaked my blacks (after contacting me to double check), so they'd be perfect. Somehow, the background was a slightly reddish black. How much more black can it be now? None more black.
Anyway, this was a fun opportunity to mess around with Illustrator. It took me a while to figure out how to do what I wanted, but I found that working on it over the course of several days made it much more bearable. I actually woke up in the middle of a dead sleep one night with a solution to an annoying problem that I was facing. Yikes.
Credit goes to the original vector wizards who posted the full marquees on the vector arcade art site. The Centipede art, in particular, is a masterwork.
Anyway, I just thought I'd share. I'll be sure to post pics of the finished job when ... it's finished.

That looks really aweseome. Great job. Fresh twist.
-
That is fantastic!!! I'd seriously consider something like that for a future cab because my wife is constantly saying that reminding me what a nerd I am...
-
nice job...original.. ;D
-
It's like a game let's see if I'm as big a nerd as you are :P
N from ?
E from centipede
R from Street Fighter
D from donkey Kong
A from pacman
L from ?
E from q-bert
R from frogger
T from Joust
damn missed 2... ah well..
edit: oh looks great !
-
n=punch out
-
L= final fight?
-
l = mortal kombat?
-
If L=Dragon's Lair, then fire up the nerd alert alarm...I got all the other ones.
-
I think the L is from Mortal Kombat, but slightly Kompressed. You can juuuust see the a on the left, and the little yellow bit down at the bottom coincides with the yellow from the MK badge on the marquee.
I initially thought that was MK, but the Kompression threw me off.
I didn't get the Street Fighter one, though.

Yup, it's Mortal Kombat. Nice work, all! ;D
This last week has been agony! I have all the parts for my cab scattered around the house, but I need the time to put it all together.
This has been such a fun project. I just can't wait to get the monitor installed. (I need to take it downstairs and get it mounted. Man, that thing is heavy and scary!)
Thanks for the feedback!

Looks great, does the side art and cp match?
-
Yup, it's a matching set. The CP is just plain black, with the logo centered at the top. It'll be positioned between the 4-way and spinner. The sides are the logo blown up, and they'll be stuck there diagonally. (The cab is going to be black, so I'll cut out the logo.)
I knew that my measuring skills are lousy, at best, so it seemed like the fewer details I had on the CP, the better. Plus, it gives me the option to move things around a bit if I suddenly come up with an amazing new layout at the last second. It's unlikely, but you never know... ;)

It would be really cool if someone made a vectorized font out of this idea.

kerning.

Any chance that you'll be updating this to the arcadeart bank?
