I wonder if Kevin liked it?

*checking*

Huh. He felt the same way about it that I did. What an abysmal waste of a group of decent classic games. >:(

Hey guys, I didn't write the review - kudos on this review go out to James McGovern (aka 1hookedspacecadet) for his investigative journalism!

LOL!

"Must be a Government Operation" <- thumbs up to 1hooked  ;)

So if someone did get stuck with one of these for x-mas, do they keep the front door open for playing consoles?  I don't see any notches or anything for controller cords?

Wow. Hey perhaps, in addition to stealth journalism, we could do some stealth public service announcements. What if we made a game flyer about the game with little sniplets from the review, then placed them at Target. Down with the Man, man.  ;D

Obviously built by the lowest bidder (reminds me of the line in Armageddon)...

I loved this, don't hgold back now !

Quote
Instead, Big Electronic Games has simply thrown together an absolute piece of rubbish and tossed it into the market in time for the holidays in a blatant attempt to capitalize off of the recent nostalgia surrounding classic arcade games. Their attempt to break into the retrogaming market with this offering is just shameful. Frankly that shame is shared by Midway for allowing their games to be featured on this platform and by Target as well as other stores, for attempting to pass this off on their customers.

that thing could be built for next to nothing, a pc monitor that size could be found at a thrift store for 10-20 bucks, would take maybe one or 2 peices of mdf, and an old pc would cost next to nothin to run those games from mame, and its small and ugly! just bad.....

I saw it tonight, and I was suprised at the size of it.  I would love to be on the team that made the decision to go ahead with production. ;D

I still don't understand why they made it so short! Its like they are marketing to kids. It would not cost them any more to make them higher and have the control panel sitting at a comfortable 32" height.

And 14" monitor, man, give me a break. I can't even remember the last time it even saw a 14" monitor!

Local Target sales ad has them at $397.  Still overpriced imo.

I want to know what is running inside.  Is it a hacked down PC or Jamma?

Thanks to some great photos from RetroBlast reader Lane, we've just updated the review with some "insider" information - literally.

The RetroBlast review now has photos of the interior of the BEG cab (love the irony of their initials  ;)), plus some details on who did the actual emulation programming!

Here's the new stuff: http://www.retroblast.com/reviews/biggames_2.html

There's a guy that's modifying the target machine. He got one and put a new control panel on it. He tore it apart and is building a website on how to modify it.  Maybe Mame it up.

I have an Idea about the cart slot.

I was a wal-mart last night with the wife and they had the PLUG and PLAYS laid out so I walked over and they have new version out now.  they sell the Ms. Pacman one with a cart slot and a cart with 5 extra games on it.

I about bought one but the famous wife quote came out.

"DONT YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE OF THOSE"

sigh
