I want to get my father a gift for his birthday. I always hear him complain about our low flow showerhead. I also hate such showers. Is there any foreign or otherwise showerhead that I could buy and adapt to an American fitting?
This is reminding me of a Seinfeld ep.

Most shower heads just have a restricter inside that makes it low-flow. You can knock it out with a hammer & a screwdriver.

Get him one of these. They are cheap and "feel" high flow while being low flow.
-
I had no idea that you could legally sell "incredible head".

I'd certainly feel uncomfortable giving incredible head to my father for his birthday.
-
Or if you want "Lousy Head", call Seph's mum.

So I said to myself, "I'm going to post this shower head all serious like, and make no snide comments. I'll just leave that to Chad and Stingray."
My plan is working quite well...
It really is a good gift idea. Think of all the fun your family wil have at Dad's expense after he opens this thoughtful gift. ;)

How many pictures of half-naked wrestlers does Chad have sitting on his hard drive anyhow?

Best to not even ask the question.

From what I understand, all showerheads are regulated to a certain flow rate. Sometimes a showerhead shoots more air into the stream of water, causing it to feel low flow.
-
But it remains that all showerheads in the US are limited to 2.5 gal per minute
-
For his birthday stand his ass in front of the nearest fire hydrant you can find and open her up. After you dry him off, tell him his present is helping him properly appreciate the shower head he already has.

The showerhead you're referring to is a Speakman. They DO sell them here if you want. Sharper Image sells them, but so do a TON of other people. Check out Brookstone or see if the Improvements catalog has 'em (google those words).
If you want some nice ones, Home Depot has that showerhead nos pointed out for a few bucks, and I've found the higher-dollar MOEN showerheads are pretty sweet. Also, on the MOEN showerheads, IIRC, they tell you right in the instructions how to take out the limiter if you so desire. It was a little blue thingamabob (sorry for the technical jargon there) that you could pull out with a pliers, even came with a little tab doohicky (again, sorry....this lingo is prolly throwing you off thinking it might be too hard) to give you something to grab onto with the pliers.
Home Depot in my area carries the Speakman's, but they seem way too overpriced for what they don't do. The MOEN's are about the same, but at least you've got several different water patterns to fool you into thinking it's worth it.

Just take a drill and make 1 bigger hole in the plastic right inside the shower head. I have done that a few times. One thing you want to try and do is make it RIGHT in the center because it WILL flow a little weird if it is off. Also, don't go TOO big with the drill bit. It may be easier to just widen the holes already there to keep it uniform.

Keep in mind if your home's water pressure is not up to code in the first place, no shower head will fix that.
-
It's a bit odd that my house has low pressure, yet my 50 year old shower head can actually put out pressure that leaves marks on your shoulder if you turn it to max.
-
I think we get about 60-70 PSI
-
I have no idea what we get but the sinks are pretty low pressure. The shower head, though, if you turn it up all the way, somehow delivers the goods. It's old, made of solid metal, and was there when I bought the house. I turned it all the way up one day after a football game and accidentally got myself in the eye with the water... it was like getting hit with a pool cue.
-
You could put one of those brass garden hose nozzles on there! :D
-
I seem to remember taking a shower once where there was no shower head.
the water comes out pretty hard when there's no head. ::)

The topic reminds me of Springsteen.
We need a pic of Bruce wailing into a microphone stand with a shower head on it. STAT!
