Title: What is this thing on my screen?
Post by: JuddWack on January 28, 2003, 10:52:05 pm
When Im playing some of the more graphically high tech games there is this line that starts at the bottom of the screen and scrolls to the top.   Is this what everyone refers to as scan lines?  Im using just a normal computer monitor.

Well, they are not scanlines as scanlines are permanent horizontal lines that are just there. I don't know what your seeing but you know how sometimes when you film a TV with a regular video camera? You see exactly what your describing...maybe you should adjust you monitors refresh rate. I'm just guessing though.

Thanks.  I thought scan lines didnt move, but is just a line that seems like it is "scanning" the game.  Ill check my monitor.

Are you near flourescent lights?  You can sometimes get an interference pattern with them.  It depends on what your monitor is set at.   Anything near 60 hz can cause a problem.

Just a thought.
