Just wondering how many of you preordered the 360. I know I did. I've gone mad on it too. I've spent almost $1000 on ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- for it. I got the Ult. console pack, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Call of Duty 2, Dead or Alive 4, Perfect Dark Zero LE, Quake 4, and 3 wireless controllers. Yeah, I got caught up in the hype. Thanx.
-See Ya!!!
-
No thanks. I'm saving my money for the PS3! :D
-
I preordered it. Games I've ordered are Condemned: Criminal Origins, Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, NHL2K6, Dead or Alive 4, NBA2K6, Oblivion, Tiger Woods 2006, and Call of Duty 2. I am diving all the way in. ;D
I know I'll be getting a PS3 too.
I work in the game industry, so I have the excuse of it all being work related to justify the costs.
-
I'm gonna giggle to myself when both of you realize that most of those games probably won't make launch.
Oh I sure hope Microsoft proves me wrong... but I doubt they will.
And no, I didn't preorder one. I probably would if I had the cash, but its way too big an investment to make for me right now.
-
If 2 of the games in my list make launch, I'll be happy enough. I pre-ordered Advanced Warfighter as well, but it got pushed back until next year.
-
I kinda wish I had preordered. It sounds like MS might be having some major supply issues. I managed to snag a PS2 package for $500 shortly after launch which I turned around and put on Ebay and brought in $800.
-
Same as you diabolic, I'd be happy if two made it to launch. Also, I work at Best Buy and I checked the store orders and a couple of the games are due to come in a little over a week. What's pretty funny is that games and accessories are going to be comming out before the system hits the market. The first game is scheduled for November 1st release date. Yeah, you can go to the store and actually pick it up. I'm actually thinking of putting my 360 on ebay though because I've seen just the core bundle go up to $1,500 and I still need to put a lot more ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- into my car. Thanx.
-See Ya!!!
-
I haven't pre-ordered one, but I like the look of it. Project Gotham 3 & Res. Evil 5 have drawn me in...I'll probably get one when the price comes down a bit.
-
....you know I saw a 360 demo at a thing called Digital Life expo here in NYC this past Sunday.
For now, 1 gen games look good....but really (really!)....not much better than great new games like Doom 3 and Burnout Legends for the present XBox.
I'm going to personally hold out for PS3. I was always a little bummed I couldn't get the PS2 at launch and gave up after about 6 months of trying to get one for a reasonable price (I refused to buy a bundle w/games I didn't want for $500 +).....hense, I ended up w/an XBox.
....I also like the idea of the Blu ray support in PS3.
Either way....I'm sure the 360 will be fun.....but I'm not feeling compelled to get one.

Call me a miserable git but I've never liked any of Sony's consoles. I mean the PS2's spec is a joke when you compare it to the much earlier Dreamcast. For that reason alone I'm gonna avoid the PS3.
IMO the only reason Playstation's do so well is because all the kiddies have got it into their brain that 'playstation' is the only gaming system going.

I preordered my 360 a long time ago.
I'm now waiting patiently for November 22 :D. The only game I have reserved is Perfect Dark Zero. I'm a little worried about how Perfect Dark Zero will turn out. Also, I can't wait to try out the controller. When the original xbox launched I bought four Duke controllers and loved them.
PS I may be heading to Hastings, MN because it sounds like they have an 360 kiosk up and running at their Walmart. This site claims that these Walmarts have 360 kiosks ready to play.

Ah...I don't know. The original Playstation had tons of great games. Parappa, Fear Effect, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, DDR, Ape Escape....seriously, the list is long. It's longer than the N64's list, though the N64 has a better controller and, of course, Nintendo first-party games.
PS2 is the same way. By far the largest library of great games, in spite of being the weakest of the three available consoles (first to market, though, so that can be forgiven to some degree). PS2 has more great games that can't be had anywhere else than any of the others.
Personally, I don't own a PS2 and never will, as my primary concern was getting Nintendo 1st party games, so I got a Gamecube first. After than I ended up deciding on an Xbox on the strength of what could be accomplished with a mod chip and Xbox Media Center. But there are a lot of PS2 games that I'm looking forward to finally playing once I have a PS3 someday (definitely not at launch).
But for the average person who isn't going to take a soldering iron to the inside of their system and doesn't have an irrational loyalty to Nintendo, PS2 is clearly the best of the three systems. It simply has a far larger library of great games than Xbox or Gamecube. And what else matters?
-
.....yeah I agree PS2 graphics aren't really up to the Xbox visuals....but ultimately I love games like Time Crisis.....which I never got to play on the Xbox....and ton's of other "arcadey" games that I like.
But, I do have a moddex Xbox crammed with tons of fantastic great games that I really enjoy....so I'm not unhappy w/my xbox by anymeans....but I think for myself, the PS2 has more (the Xbox has some...but PS2 has more)....."fun, play for 15-20 minute" cool games.....like the "old days".
...I am SERIOUSLY lovin' my newly updated (back to 1.5) PSP though.
Oh yeah, for sh-ts and giggles I picked up a micro....I really like it a lot for super quick on the go gaming....with a 512 X Rom cart in it, I'm running 13 "compilations" of games from Atari, Sega, Namco, Konami etc.....for a total of about 50+ classic games on the go. Sweet! ;)
....but going back to Snaakke for a second....I still think that the DC is my top all time favorite machine. I really have always enjoy Sega games......(no so much the Genesis, but Sega Arcade games). And that machine (as you all know) got so killed off before it's time.
I wonder if a company like Messiah (coming out with the "new" NES) will redo the DC some day (or license it and reproduce it).
-
I'm waiting for a price drop on the 360 (yea, I can wait a year or two)... mean time I'm chip'n my original xbox ;)
-
i dont have that kind of disposable income
-
I lack desire.
-
I think I want one, but I'm going to wait until the good games start coming out. If the Walmart kiosks are anything to go by, it seems the launch titles they had planned still need a lot of optimizing before they're up to the promised performance standards. I can't see that happening in 3 weeks.
-
I'm going to wait for darthbane2k to get one so I can get his opinion ;)
-
This will be the first launch I've missed other than some of the really expensive systems (ie 3DO, Neo Geo). Now that I have kids and just bought a new computer I don't have a good excuse for the wife :(. But that's ok, I've already made it clear that the day Halo 3 comes out I'm getting one.
-
not until it has a mod chip
-
man just seems too expensive :-\
-
Revolution at launch, one of the other two after the prices drop. Currently I'm pretty turned off by the Xbox 360 and really excited by the PS3, but admittedly I have almost no legitimate reason to believe PS3 will be better. It's just a gut feeling that probably stems from being manipulated by Sony's marketing dept., considering we've hardly seen anything that the console can do and have no idea what kind of support it will get or what it's price will be. No matter, though. By the time I get my second system both the 360 and the PS3 will have been out for quite a while and nothing will stop me from saying, "Wow....I was wrong about that one. I'm getting a 360."
I just hope I don't say to myself, "Wow, I was wrong about the Revolution. This thing is a giant ---Cleveland steamer---."
edit: Oh yeah....for what it's worth, backwards compatibility factors into my leaning toward a PS3 as I currently own an Xbox and Gamecube and have never owned a PS2, so I've missed out on quite a few exclusive titles that the PS3 would give me a second chance on.

I highly recommend God of war and Shadow of the collosus

:) Those are actually exactly the two games I had in mind.

awesome choices. Get a dirt cheap copy of Ico as well, you won't regret it.
-
Yeah, I kinda had that one in mind too, but only because I recently stumbled across its existence when researching Shadow of the Colossus cos it's made by the same team.
-
ICO is a far superior game IMO compared to Shadows. Both are great, but ICO draws you in like not many other games can (at least it did for me)
-
I didn't pre-order, I'm going to wait till after I buy all my christmas presents, then worry about it.
As far as supply issues: There are DEFINITELY supply issues, and they're deliberate.

If you check out www.xbox-scene.com, they've got the list of stores, and EVERYONE is short. EBGames, Gamestop, Wal*Mart, Target, EVERYONE. MS is doing it deliberately to hype up the console. "Look! IT SOLD OUT OPENING DAY! WOW!" :o
It's more annoying to me than anything, and I'm not so desperate to spend $400 that I have to wait in line at a department store at midnight. I'm a BIG BIG BIG Xbox fan though, and I will almost definitely end up getting one though, but I'm going to wait to see it first hand. If I end up being really impressed, I'll get it. I played "King Kong" on a kiosk in Wal*Mart and while it was pretty, It really didn't blow me away. It was noticeably better than the regular XBOX, but more from a lighting perspective and not from a photorealistic/modelling perspective. Maybe it was just the game, who knows.
-
The King Kong demo really turned me off. I played the 'Kong vs T-Rex' part; I was very dissappointed how low-poly everything looked; the t-rex from the old PS1 demo disc looked better. Camera movement/cinematics/FPS sucked too, which is strange for a game of such a high profile movie. Maybe the developers really weren't ready to get it out. ???
Kameo did play nice though, as expected from any Rare production. But I didn't see any spectacular next-gen graphics, and the 'Word up' guy with the red cod-piece was nowhere to be seen.
-
I didn't preorder either, but I will be getting one after Xmas sometime :). I love playing with my buds around the nation on xbox live.
But I am not in that big of a hurry considering my most aticipated game is coming to the old xbox in feb/march.

Any winners of those Pepsi (Canada) or Mountain Dew (U.S.) contests for the xbox360 before launch? It's crazy how hardcore Microsoft is going with advertising for this thing. They are giving away like 10,000 or something xbox360s in the US contest and nearly 1,000 in the Canadian one. When the contest first started I had a friend that won after a day of trying, so I gave it a shot and won 2 days later. I've never won a thing in my life, I thought it was pretty awesome.
Rumour has it us Canadians should get ours somewhere around the 14th or 15th. I'm pretty pysched :P
Any other winners?
-
Never heard of this contest. What do you have to do to win? Can I have one?
-
I'm gonna giggle to myself when both of you realize that most of those games probably won't make launch.
Oblivion -morrowind- a;ready pushed back till after march... COUGH COUGH!
and now I die inside... >.<

I highly recommend God of war and Shadow of the collosus
oh the collosus is just something,... yes a great something

Seriously?
I'm in Canada but I get 100 commercials a day about the Mountain Dew xbox360 thing for the US contest. It's got that guy running on the beach "I Just won an xbox 360, this is the best day of my life!"
The US site is www.every10minutes.com
The Canada one is www.befirsttoplay.ca
I'm not sure how to get free entries for the US one, but for Canada you can get them here:
http://befirsttoplay.ca/NPNx.asp (you can request 1 per hour per account).
To tide us over until the xbox360's come, they give away these "Party Packs" with a tshirt, some coupons and stuff, and this carrying case:

Oh yeah, and since then I've cancelled my pre-order. ;D

Yeppers.. .

I actually preordered the 360 back in march or may. Im going to call the gamestop by me and tell them i want the 400 usd set. but since i realized that im cheap and theres no way in hell im spending that cash for the system when only three games catch my eye-perfect dark, gears of war, and quake 4. so im going to sell on ebay or sell my reservation at the store.
but all the systems have something to offer. xbox 360 has halo3, ps3 has killzone 2-yes the first one sucked-, i-8, and warhawks or something like that, revolution has the whole rom thing going for it which really isnt that great but eh.
all the old systems rock. dc was cut short ---gosh-darn--- you all. they still make dc games in japan. only shortcomings were the modem only 56k and the controller having the cord come out the bottom not the top. but the vmu good and first to have online good.
-
Do places like Gamestop and EB set limits to how many you could preorder (1 per person)? I used to work in a small video game store and some guy came in and ordered 3 premium versions, and paid for them in full. I doubt he'll get them before December (the owner of the store is very unreliable) but it seems like a smart idea considering how much people will pay for a system on eBay. Hell, people will pay 200 bucks for an empty BOX with Xbox graphics on it because they don't read the title throughly.
-
I just won mine in the Every 10 Mins contest, Like a good little boy :D
BTW, anyone willing to buy this thing off me? I probably wont sell......but if the price is right :)
I get it the weekend before it comes out
