How do you control the centipede when it gets 'split up'? :)

You don't have to loose the split...... the "short" end greys out and becomes a computer-controlled drone while you continue to control the main length. Or to make things more sporting, the end with the head on it stays under player control, so you sort of have a health bar. (Loose all your sections and you are dead. )

Id rather someone hack into Disc's Of Tron and make it two player cablable.
Also, might be nice to have the players to be able to use sarks special weapons. Limted to maybe 2 special every 3 levels.. or something like that.

How about a 2 player centipede game similar to the 2 player joust pinball. (edge to edge).
The trick is this. When you shoot the centipede, it will split it in two like normal, but going the opposite direction.
So each player has a side. And the centipede starts in the middle (maybe two of them, one in each direction).
Then add some fun. If you get shot by the other player, you get stunned for a second.
that would be fun.
BTW, I started a Mr Driller clone in java (to get on my phone... I love mr driller). It was going to use DigDug graphics since thats not my strong suite. I got to the point of having a guy moving down, and the blocks dropping, but not scrolling or have air or anything.
making a game where it uses the graphics of others takes a lot out of the design of the game. MUCH easier if you ask me.
A 2 player DOT would be cool, but I'm not sure how many people could play it well. Heck a two player centipede would be the same.
I would love to see more 2 player robotron games... but we have total carnage and smash tv. But they are so damn fun.

Let's see how this works (just the basics; not even collisions yet)

I may have published it for FLASH 8. Try updating your player:

I'm thinking a combined game like that would at least have to have some common theme or element. Even if the gameplay is drastically different between areas, you could get away with it if there's common graphics/story to tie it together.
Tron's a good example of this.
Gorf's also another example. I never understood why the "invaders" and the Galaxians were helping the Gorfian empire. They're just all there in variations on the same theme.

Ok, now maybe not quite 100% BYOAG concept but I think it would be pretty cool to hack your own face into NBA Hangtime or MAXHANGT similar to the Chandler Bing and other hidden players.
I assume its not possible but thought I'd throw it out and see if anyone has an idea.

that would be awesome but i'd be even more interested in updated rosters

That's because they aren't. Those games are owned by taito and namco respectively so obvioulsy these are totally different and original characters that just happen to be very similar and have similar (if not identical) names. Very much like the sub-mariner is in no way a total rip-off of Aquaman. ;)
Check your Gorf history..... Although the "invaders" stage was deemed original enough to not infringe on copyrights, the "galaxians" stage wasn't so lucky and was dropped from the console versions of the game.
Gorf was a very early attempt at a "themed" multi cart cab. Basically you have 5 space games split into stages. (The first game with different stages btw.)
