Title: what game is this ? SOLVED !

Okay so this is a very vague description of a game I played once in MAME. Never saw it in the arcades so I can only descript the gameplay -

Its a vertical scrolling shooter.
You play as an armed human(oid ?)
The levels look like a cross between an American football stadium and a pinball machine.
when you get to the "top" of the scorllable area I think a load of american fotball players come out of a door at the top.
On completeing a level you get some kind of fanfare and possibly dancing cheerleaders (not sure on this though).

Any ideas ? I'm currently searching MAWS for a recognisable screenshot but having no luck so far.

Wayhay ! So bored at work - I have just spent around an hour scrolling through screenshots of games on MAWS and found it ! I eventually narrowed the search down to "Shooting/Walking" games as I was pretty sure thats what kind of game it was.

Its called Nitro Ball (US) or Gun Ball (Japan). The screenshot of the US version is almost exatly what I was picturing when I tried to describe it.

MAWS describes the gameplay as :

"Futuristic, fast and furious vertical action game, it's a sort of "Smash T.V." in a pinball environment."

I seem to remember it was a pretty good/bizarre game.
