Greetings all!...I just picked up 5 mini arcade machine style handhelds from Walmart for $9.97 each.
They're branded MGA Electronic Handheld Games (the makers of "Bratz" toys believe it or not) and I got 'em in Pac Man, Missile Command, Centipede, Super Breakout and I'm blanking on the 5th one.....hmm....I really can't remember....sorry old age creeping in!.....
I looked on their (Walmart and MGA) website but don't see them even listed....so I'll try to post some pics in the next day or so unless someone beats me to it.
The packaging is really neat and these are NOT the ones you'll find on MGA's site presently....as these look like mini arcade machines (side art and all!).
I think these will go into storage or perhaps display.

....ooops....sorry, I meant to add... "I'll take some photos tonight or tomorrow if I can."

Phew. :D
Kinda curious to see this one.

There was another thread someplace about some of these at Sears Canada... are they the same ones?

I've debated these a few times with myself, but the games themselves are of the calculator display sort.

Vacuum fluorescent?

DARN....scooped again. Yep those are the ones. I only paid $9.97 and literally bought all 5 they had (they were all different).....I'm sure the games suck (crappy LCD games rehashed from a prior line of MGA games)....but the design was too cool to pass up.
I also picked up a Flashback 2.0. Big day for me at the big W!

Those don't look like LCD. They look like VFD.

....wishful thinking.....sorry Chad!....definitely LCD....these ain't no Coleco minis!
-
I was playing one of these (http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Coleco/Galaxian.htm) this past weekend.

Saw these at a retro computing fair here too. They look nice. Maybe we can remove the LCD and other electronics, and hack in a PocketPC running MAME ? :D :D :D
Or that handheld game that is running all those emulators, what's it called again ? Game....

Or a GBA SP.

with metal slug ;)
if u made it in the style of a aussie (japanese) cocktail cab you could actually hold the thing and play it like a gameboy but when resting it looks like a mini cab ;)
-
A mini NEO-GEO cab with a GBA inside running metal slug would be quite sweet indeed. :)

Sounds like we might need another micro-cabinet contest... (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=10462.0)

If it happens I would definitely build the mini NEO-GEO.

I agree, it would cool to see what new ideas would come about. It has been over a year since the last one. I might even try my hand at it. ;)
