Title: Old MAME and New ROMs ?

I have v 0.60 and ROMs for that.
If I would like to run an older version of MAME (like .36 as I have read will run faster on older hardware) , do I then need older ROMs ?
Or can I use the ones I have?

You will need older roms but most of the older games haven't changed in a while so you might be fine. You can download romcenter and it will check them all out for you and rename any it can.

Also if you have any doubts you can check the ROMS on the mame.dk website.  They have a complete history of most (all?) of the MAME roms.  I recently built a cabinet and used the .37b9 version of MAME and the .61 version ROM sets.  Of course some of my games wouldn't run.  The ones that wouldnt run I researched on mame.dk and sure enough, the roms had changed.  MAME.DK is an excellent resource, check it out for kickarse ROM info.
