Are these good joysticks ? How do I wire them to my Jamma Harness with JPAC if they don't use microswitches ? Thanks.

I believe they do use microswitch like connections (I mean you plug this into your ipac)... they just also need a 5V power connection to power the optics that drive the switches

I'm also thinking of getting the p360's... can you get a +5 from the ipac?

Hmm.. it may be possible.. but I think it's not reccomended.. might invite a short..
i'd like to hear what some others that have a P360 use for power...

The p360s are the best joystick money can buy.
They are NOT microswitch based. THey use optical sensors to track the actuator movement which makes them PRECISE and they distribute the region allocated for each of the 8 or 4 directions EVENLY.
If you're wiring it up to a Jamma harness, I believe one of the pins is a +5v pin. You should have no problems.

Right... I'm not sure what the connections are named.. which Is why I said "microswitch like"... is there a name for them??
It is said that it hooks up exactly like a standard microswitch joystick with the exception of the +5V power requirement.

You can hook it to your encoder (ipac, kb hack, joy hack, whatever) the same way you hook up any other joystickwith microswitches. But you need to supply 5v power to it. This 5 volts can come from the Ipac if you have the ipac wired for it. It can come from a hard drive connector, I believe 5v is the red wire and the yellow wire is 12v but double check that before you believe me or you can get a 5 volt transformer to power it.
They are super simple to hook up, I wish I had the money to give them a try because they sound pretty sweet.

I've ordered two of these joysticks to HappControls tonight. I will tell all of you my opinion when I tried them. Thanks for your answers.

Just so you know..i know where you could get 5 volt from regular pads like psx and dreamcast and dont know about I-PAC.
Dont try random because you COULD blow(one of my friend did and didnt have a clue what happend) out the p360 hub which cost like $25 alone.
Email andy warne and ask him where is this 5 volt in i-pac.i know its there(somewhere in the i-pac PCB) but better be safe then sorry. :)

My guess would be to get te 5v from the LED header. This is where the Optipac can pull it's power from. See here
