Does a bear ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- in the woods? Is a ducks ass watertight? Is the pope a catholic? Will Jessica Simspon ever leave that stupid Nick and be begged to get "Bones styled" every night?

That is idiocy, she should have sold it on the spot.

"When Katrina Blankenship started getting phone calls about the projected path of Hurricane Katrina, she wasn't quite sure why.
But it was her Web site, Katrina.com, that got people's attention."
I am amazed that people could read well enough to find her phone # on the site, but poorly enough that they never figured out that the site had nothing to do with hurricanes.

Her convictions are stupid though, her website will have no traffic 2 weeks from now. If she wanted some conviction then she could have donated some of that $500,000 to the hurricane victims.

Hey there is some cash to be made here.....
Become buddies with the dude responsible for naming these big storms and go halves in the web address sale everytime there is a natural disaster.
I wonder if www.comethittheearth.com or www.iceageiscoming.com are registered yet?
-
Suffice to say that if there's ever a hurricane named Stingraysmadness, I will be more than happy to sell.

It is simply not worth $500k to have to re-print all my business cards.
-
jeez, how many business cards do you have?
-
It is simply not worth $500k to have to re-print all my business cards.
not to mention the letter head
I personally would have made a counter offer of $500k and a shiny penny.

Does the pope tofu in the woods?"
CJ in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas says that all the time. I'd never heard it before, but I always laugh ---my bottom--- off when I hear him say it. He only says it to Cesar -- some mexican guy -- and Cesar is always like, "Wha.....How should I know?
-
Nope
Id make em give me 500,001
Not a penny less..

The next hurricane with start with L... anyone want to bet on Laura?

Wow in 2008 (http://geography.about.com/od/physicalgeography/a/2008names_p.htm) the first Hurricanne of the season will carry my name....
;D
I guess it would be bad to have a hurricanne named after you.....
you would kinda be rooting for it to be big, but hope that it's not too big
:-\
-
That's it. I'm starting a petition to name the next hurricane 'RayB'

considering that site list names up to 2009 it may be a while......

Also says there's 6 lists, and they're rotated. They only change when one's devastating enough that they don't want to re-use the name.
Meaning anyone with a K name has a chance to get in the rotation now.
Retired names. (http://geography.about.com/od/physicalgeography/a/retirednames.htm)

Kind of. I can't remember if it's the city, state, or federal officials who have to do it, but they remove a name from the roation for insurance and aid purposes, and it's only done when it's requested, but it's usually requested when the claims, cleanup, and aid will take quite some time to be spread to where it's needed, to avoid potential confusion.
I know it's dumb, but it's a "red-tape" issue that really shouldn't be that hard to overcome ::)
-
Thinkin' outside the box here....
If it's true that no publicity is bad publicity then they could license the names to companies like they do for major sports arenas. For example Hurricane Exxon or Hurricane eBay.
Or better yet, why not name them after leaders of foreign countires that piss us off. Like hurricane Qaddafi, Chavez or Kim Jong Il.

It's at the federal level. Actually above it.
According to the NOAA(which I think About.com was plagiarizing from), the "World Meteorological Organization" is responsible for naming them.
And NOAA agrees it's for taste concerns, not insurance paperwork.
"The only time that there is a change in the list is if a storm is so deadly or costly that the future use of its name on a different storm would be inappropriate for reasons of sensitivity. If that occurs, then at an annual meeting by the WMO committee (called primarily to discuss many other issues) the offending name is stricken from the list and another name is selected to replace it."

Fun sidenote: Gilbert is on the retired names list. I knew a Gilbert the year that one went off.
