Title: 8 bit music
Post by: ARCADE5280 on August 19, 2005, 12:04:02 am
In the usual web surfing I came across "8 bit music" (aka "chiptunes").  It consists of music written using a gameboy!  It literally sounds like your favorite arcade cabinet hosting its own party.  I can't think of a group of people that would appreciate it more then everyone here...

One of the best is BitShifter : www.bitshifter.cc
A good sample : http://www.bitshifter.cc/audio/bit_shifter_-_march_of_the_nucleotides.mp3

Another good sight where all the music (and album art) is made for fun and is free to downlaod : www.8bitpeoples.com

It's interesting...It would be neat attract mode music for a mame cab...let me know what you think.

Thanks, that's cool stuff.  There is certainly a site for everyone.  I usually grab the game remixes but I've never heard of people using the system to make original music.  I like what I've listened to so far.

Hey, great link. I'm listening to the "March" now and I've caught my foot tapping...Think I'll save this one in my music collection....

There is a lot of good stiff.  I like the bitshifer and psilodump work.  The 80s remakes by Mesu Kasumai on "my fiero" are a riot...play one and try to name the tune.
