Title: What goes around....
Post by: MameMaster! on August 18, 2005, 12:41:45 pm
....wow....I just realized today I've been logging into BYOAC long enough to feel that I'm now seeing the same questions and "discoveries" from the newbies that I saw when I joined (about 2.5 years ago) more than ever lately.

Sigh. Oh no....am I going to go all Howard C on these guys soon??   ;D

....I was a Howard C target for a short time (thankfully) when I was newbie.

Sigh. Those were the days of innocence.  :-\

back in my day son there was no book!....it literally wasn't written yet. We depended on the kindness of strangers.

...and uh, I use blue and red for O and K....check chapter  5 in Saint's book you'll see it there.  ::)

This is very important. You have to use blue for 'O'. The 'K' can be any color, but it has to be translucent, lighted, and have a leaf switch.

...hmmm...I came across a mod that allowed for a red "O"....I'll PM you the how to. It's pretty easy but you'll need a soldering gun, router and some patience. Good Luck!

I'm waiting for Patience 2.0 to come out. The version I have (Patience 1.09.b17) is very buggy.

...yeah....patience 2.0 should be good....but I like the beta for now. So far it's been stable.

Missioncontrol--- try the patience forums (just google them)....and log into the "faq" page. You'll see everything you need listed there in the sticky.

Sometimes it is worth taking time to remind yourself just how foreign and exciting the idea of building a cab was when you first discovered the concept.

I remember it vividly & I am glad that most forum members treated me nicely instead of receiving a whole bunch of arrogant RTFM comments.

I don't know this Howard C.

You need to get outa the Everything Else forum more often.  HowardCasto has more posts than almost anyone.  These days he is confined mostly to the Software Forums.  He is the author of one of the nicer frontends available.  It's called Flaming Dragon or some nonsense name like that.

If you RTFM, you'd know that we were ignoring your silliest posts as a matter of principle, and until someone said you were cool with bacon, all our help was just to suss out if you were actually worth keeping around here.  Being born with a love for bacon, I never bothered to ask if anyone was treating me nicely.  I just figured no one can dislike a bacon-lover ;D

So, you get out of the EE forum more often, and can't remember Dragonater?  Dragonasaurus Rex?  Dancing Flamingo Dragons?  Dragon King....yeah, that's the ticket!

He's not "confined".....its mandated that he gets at least 1 hour of "outside time" each day.

That would explain it.  I spend time in Artwork, Project Announcements, Monitors, Consoles, EE, and Arcade misc.  I spend no time in software because I don't have nor plan to have a mame cab.
