This is my first attempt at creating my marquee.  Any feedback/suggestions would be appreciated

It looks good, but I would work on the blending a little. and you have several spot where a stray color is bleeding thru. Those will REALLY show up when you print it.

But I like it.

Colorful.  The whip on the left needs to be blended better, it has white edges.  I always hate that (and never have a good program to fix it.)  I assume this is a fighting cab.  No MAME in the logo?

thx for the comments.  As for blending the colors I'm new to using paint shop pro (using version 9) any tips on how to do that would be great.  also i wanted to maybe wrap the text around the circle item in the middle but could not figure out how to wrap text.  any PSP experts out there know how to do that?

As for the mame logo,  this cab is going to be an all inclusive cab having not just mame, but emulate all the older console systems from n64 and back as well as have a DC, PS2, PS1, and X-box systems in the arcade (i'm using the x-arcade controls I stripped apart and put into a 4 player housing with golden-tee trackball.  So singling out mame is not a high priority

thx for the compliments.

Anyone know though how to wrap the text around the circle object in the middle with paint shop pro or know of another program which i could use to do that?  I do have photoshop but know less about that than PSP.

Also any tips on how to blend the layers?

I think that's bad ass!  I agree about the white bars on the side...those need to go..but I'm not really seeing these colors bleeding through (although admitadly I don't know what I'm looking for)  If I knew that maybe I could help.

Took me awhile playing around with PSP but I finally figured out how to wrap text, though I decided wraping it real close to the middle circle layer didn't look good.  Here's a modification to the original.  I made the middle circle layer a little smaller in order to make the arcade name a bit larger, wraped the Unreal a little in order to make it a bit larger as well and got rid of the white stripes on the sides

Does it look better with the wrapped "Unreal" Text or straight?

I like the wrapped version better but I also think you should shrink the green circle in the middle and make the font on "unreal" a little bigger and have it overlap the green circle a little.

Are you suggesting making the circle even smaller than what I have already shrunk it?  Here it is with your suggestions with an even smaller circle

Here is the side art I've been playing around with.  I posted this a few months ago but got caught up in school and wasn't able to check up/reply on any suggestions so comments would be great

Looks good! But how do you plan to stick it on the side ? Personally I dont like square sticker. Either put it in as a logo (kind of... maybe with stroke around it, and not making it square) or put it as big as you can covering the whole side.

On the marquee-
I recommend losing the green circle and putting the U unreal logo there instead.

I would also erase the blocky ice frost around Sub Zero's hands and just paint in some yourself, it will look much better.

On the side art- nice idea, but the characters in the clouds need to blend better.
Title: Continuing my artwork
Post by: digitalpackrat on May 28, 2006, 10:05:34 am
Ok its been nearly a year since I completed my cab and have not finished the artwork.  Finally found some time this weekend to attempt some suggestions from earlier and could use some feedback.
I've decided to try and make it more of a rectangle poster shape instead of a square, but by doing that some of the characters had to go.  I've made a few different versions, some with the characters at the top, some with the name of the cab and with completely new backgrounds that match more closely the color of my control panel.  Final Picture is the cabinet nearly completed ( still need to finish the doors on the front and put in my coin doors) and you can see the personal printer marquee and sideart I printed, definently need to get it professionally printed

I've decided to go with the jungle background because it goes more with the color scheme of my cab but the longer I wait to print it the more I keep playing with it.  I've decided not to go with the words at the top.  added more characters.  does it look better with the additional characters or  does it make it too busy?

Actually, I think it would look better if all of your characters weren't clustered at the bottom of the image. But I guess it's better that than to show them with no feet, etc.
