Hey all! I just bought a SMC1 Seeburg jukebox from a guy near me (unbeknowest to me at the time, there were also 3 records left in it!). I'm currently planning to take out the parts inside and just mount a computer in. Will post pics as stuff happens, but it may not be for a while. The computer I'm going to put in there is my current desktop, and I'm not getting a new one until the next Windows OS is released. But my laptop is what I've been using for the past months, so once the juke is stripped I might just put the computer in and rely solely on my laptop. I'm planning on using SK Jukebox for the software.

Could I convince you to get good close-up pics of that control panel, the titlestrip area, and those instruction cards? I'd love to make a WinCab skin out of it...

I can certainly do that. However, you have to clarify some things or me, as I am a newbie to this. By the titlestrip area do you mean where the cards are that tell you what song is at what location? Or are those the instruction cards? How much of the control panel do you want?
Sorry for all of the questions. I'll try to get them up tomorrow or the next day, as I'll be gone for a week after that.

Yes, the titlestrip area is where the song labels go; the instruction cards are the parts on either side of the control keypad.

Here are the titlestrips. Sorry about that, wasn't sure if it would work.
The 3 records are:
Patti Page: How Much Is That Doggie In The Window, and Tennessee Waltz
The 4 J's: By Love Possessed, and Here I Am Broken-Hearted
The Cadillacs: Speedo, and Let Me Explain
The only thing that will be different about it will be a monitor where the top title strip is, and a computer inside. Plus a new speaker might be put in. Other than that, it's going to look exactly the same, except on the inside, which I hope most people aren't looking at. Plus it doesn't work now, and I want more than 180 songs on it. And if I'm going to restore another, the guy I got it from has another one, same model and everything, so that's always an option.

Sorry about not updating. The juke is now just about completely stripped of it's inside components, and the glass where the top titlestrip was is now gone so the monitor is ready to be mounted. I bought a 15" lcd proview monitor from circuit city that I'm going to use in this. I am going to use the original 4 speakers that came with the juke, and might add a couple more. However, I have to attach some bucking magnets to the speakers, which I'll probably do Monday, and then I'll hook the speakers up to a reciever and hook that up to the computer. I am going to buy another I-PAC for the buttons, and was wondering if anyone thought it would be cheaper to buy some buttons from ultimarc (I need the microswitches for the buttons in the juke) when I buy the I-PAC or if it would just be cheaper to buy idividual microswitches from Happs. I might also buy a joystick, so if anyone has any thoughts on that, I would be grateful!

The juke is just about finished. I was having some company over yesterday, and was trying to get done, and for once did it on time. I'm still not sure where I'm going to put the receiver. I tried mouting it to the top/back of the cabinet but when I installed the shelf on some L-brackets, the L-brackets bent when I opened the top, so that idea was out. Right now the reciever is sitting on a cabinet next to the jukebox, but I have to make it so that people know that's where they adjust the volume. I might just add some instruction cards in some of the titlestrips. Still need a bezel for the monitor, and I'll probably do that tomorrow as school starts again on Monday.
The pictures are of the front pretty much as it looks right now. The two cords leading out from the juke are the mouse and keyboard cords. They'll be gone as soon as I order an I-PAC and some buttons from ultimarc. The 2nd pic is a closeup of the front w/ the computer.

Here are some of the monitor mount pics. The first one is the back. There was a bit of a ledge in the juke where the top titlestrip went, [_] was what is looked like, so we just cut a sheet of plywood to fill the inside, then cut a rectangle out of the plywood to account for the monitor curving out a bit in back. We used Household Goop to attach the monitor to the plywood. The first pic is the back of the monitor mount, and the second is the front.

very cool idea. after I get my arcade cab finished the next project I want to do is make a jukebox. It definently looks slick so far. How much did you pick the jukebox up for?
You have a link for the front end you are using?
Once I get around to builiding my jukebox (if I have the money for it) I plan to get a touchscreen monitor so buttons will not be nessessary
I was thinking of going with the xlobby front end for my jukebox once I ever get around to building it. It is a very nice looking front end. here's a link to it
