This is not the greatest song in the world.  No.

This is just a tribute.

Well, I really really like the choice of songs.  TBS and Dashboard for the win :)

However, I'm not sure they are the types of songs you should be singing.  It seems that you are really struggling to sing LIKE the songs... but not singing the songs, if that makes any sense.

On the dashboard song, I just think you have too deep of a voice to make it work... you can hear the struggle in your voice to get as high as Chris does, and you might not even be consciously doing it.

The Taking Back Sunday track doesn't show a struggle persay... but it just doesn't seem like you're singing with your real singing voice.  Everyone has a specific vocal range, and that's where you will sound best... no matter what the original song sounds like.

I really like em though, your guitar sounds good (if not a bit slow at parts during the TBS track, but that might be you taking artistic liscese), and your tone and expression is really good.  I think if you recorded it in more of your natural voice as opposed to the way you are now, it would sound even better.  I'm not sure if you are TRYING to fit that emo intonation, but I've seen a lot of people do that, and it very rarely works out compared to just singing it like your voice should.

Anyway.. just constructive criticism. I really like em, and please understand that I couldn't sing a note in tune to save my damn life  :P so hopefully you won't take this harshly.

Also I'm not sure why, but hearing your voice reminds me of Brand New at parts.  It makes me want to hear you cover something like "okay I believe you but my tommy gun don't"

thanks for the critique, yeah when i listen to the TBS cover i realized i kind of sung in a weird style, but ive played that at a coffee house before on a PA and i dunno why when im singing into a mic i just seem to sing better. that was just like in my room singing into nothing the mic was just sitting on my desk in front of me. that cute without the E was just a 1 shot recording, i knew i messed up guitar on a few parts but u cant notice much, didnt feel like recording it 5 times, and that wasnt multi tracked or anything.

I will get around to recording my originals soon, which are obviously better for my vocal range since i made them. but i want to get some better equipment cause people not into music dont realize how much the quality of equipment can make a song song good/bad. it sounds good live cause i have a PA and all nice stuff but no recording stuff

I realized that any goof ups or what have you were just cuz you were having some fun.  Covers are hard to get to sound really good IMO... and certainly wouldn't happen with a one shot recording at your PC heh :)
