any body know it, for sure?
I was reading up about it today and its going to be a killer i think! I dont reckon ill even bother up dating my PC anymore and start saving for the XBOX NEXT, cause you dont need the latest PC to run IRC and surf the web, which is all i'll be doing on the PC. Im just hoping your able to whack a huge harddrive straight into it and hook up a burner to the USB Ports, which will only be used when a mate wants a cd or ive got to burn one for the car, cause ill just play my music of the always on NEXT!
should be good!

XBOX 360
Preorder at EB right now is 499.99 or 599.99 i forget.. most likely id GUESS 399 or 299 at actual release date
-
I've got mine on reserve with GameStop (EB etc...) for $50 right now. they haven't set a price yet. anything you hear otherwise is PURE speculation. it will most likely be in the 400 to 500 range.
-
Xbox 360 @ $299 is my guess.
That would be a mass market price.
If they were smart they would launch at this price and have millions ready to sell. They REALLY need a jump start on PS3.....
and.. ahem Revolution :)

I remember when super nintendo came out! It was $199 Canadian for the system, two controllers and Super Mario World...
good ol 1991.
-
Yes, but adjusted for inflation that's like 10,000 of today's dollars. ;)
The Neo-Geo was $500 new and the games close to 200 if I remember correctly :o
I have enough tickets saved up at Dave & Buster's that I may be able to trade them in for a 360 when it comes out...No way am I paying 300+ every 3 years for a new console.
-
PS2 - Oct 2000
XBOX - Nov 2001
GCN - Nov 2001
PS3 - March 2006 (Estimated)
XBOX 2 - November
Revolution - Summer 2006 (Estimated)
Sony Gave it 6 Years
Nintendo Gave it 5 Years
Microsoft Gave it 4 Years.
The big question is, how will this affect sales?

Oh man if it's over 3 bones then I'm screwed. I've already got pre-permission to purchase but not if it's more than that. Heck, not even I would want to pay over that for a system. Still sure would like to have a Neo Geo though.

The real question is how long before people start to ---smurfette--- that they can't play MAME on it.

Alright Folks....
I went to EB Games this morning and asked what the price would be.... and its.... [drumroll please].......
$299 US
$349 CDN
They said the price is going to be officially announced at Tokyo Game Show later this month. They guarantee the price so that if its above $349, they wont charge you.
Heres the catch, expect a package deal upwards of $500-700 for Launch day systems. It will include a few games, the system 2 controllers etc.
A little too much cash for me... too expensive for now.
I dont have XBOX 1 even yet. I thought about one because a place by my house sells them for $125 USED (CDN), but i guess i should just wait for 360.

If the price hasn't been officially announced, you got a jerky salesperson who wanted to sound knowledgeable. Until announcement, there is no way he can know any more than anyone else.

I give you my personal guarantee that it will cost $300 U.S.
-
I am gonna get flamed on this comment for syre.. and I mean no disrespect... but how can you give a personal guarantee? where do you get your information?
-
He can't, but $300 is as high as a console can go and still have a successful launch. Every console that has ever launched higher than that has been a launch failure.

And read what i said..
Ive WORKED at and am friends with the Store and district managers of EB here. and guess what? They cant make taht guarantee.. at MOST they can give you your deposit back.. but they WONT just give it to you at 349 if it ends up retailing for 599
-
They give you a sheet guaranteeing it when you do so apparently.
thats what the guy told me.
If i reserved it and he didnt give that to me, i definitly wouldnt reserve it.
Anyways, im a poor college student and cant afford it...
I would have paid $500 for the system, 4 controllers, 3 games.....
I guess i will wait for a price drop on a system that hasnt even come out yet. lol. ;D
