Is there a program that automatically sets all (or as many as possible) games to freeplay in MAME? I'm thinking of a clever little program like the Auto-res tools out there?
I'd like to set all my games to freeplay on my cab, and can't be bothered to go into each dipswitch setting in every game.
Thanks

Nope.....
The main reason behind this being the fact that in mame cfg files, ALL
dipswitches have the same name ("DIPSWITCH_NAME") so it's impossible to tell which switch does what.
A sample dipswitch setting taken from puckman:
<port type="DIPSWITCH_NAME" mask="128" defvalue="128" value="128">
</port>
Notice the port type name isn't much help. I need to get ahold of the mame devs.... if they were to add a "caption" tag into the port type header it should be possible to make some sort of batch program.
Sorry, If I've bored you, I just happen to be looking into this exact part of the cfg file structure and I thought I would share. :)

If you use my Front End (the Pro version which manage credit). , you can set "Free Play".
The Pro version, is limited , but the limitation is "After a while all games run in Free Play."
The Prototype on my web site , is based on mameplus 0.90.
My Free play mode does not modify DIP Switch, it only insert 10 credits at each start of a game.
