Hey Guys
I think I have settled for a theme for my cabinet (transformers), I have searched the net and found some cracking images, the highest resolution I have is 1600x1200 but some of them are much lower (due to there size I think).
Is it right to assume if the resolution is low the larger you make it the more distorted it will look? I want the image as crisp as possible so do not want to lose any of the detail, I will be using the images for side art, control panel, monitor bezel, marquee and perhaps the kick plate.
Can someone please tell me the BEST way to increase the resolution without losing any detail?
I think I am going to call the cabinet Transformercade what do you all think?
Thanks in advance

In a technical sense, there is no way to increase a low-res raster image to a high-res raster image without losing detail.
That's why so many arcade art projects incorporate vector images, as they can be resized with no loss of quality. But in their case it takes far more effort to create them.

He's right. Low-res art will just not be suitable if blown up very much. On the bright side, I would think that as far as vectorizations go, most Transformer work should be fairly easy.

Thanks for that guys, thought just as much will put them into illustrator and see what I can do!

Can anyone supply me with a decent tutorial on how to vectorize images, I have both illustrator and PS but have been told that illustrator produces more accurate vector images. I have jpeg images at the moment which I believe are in raster format (this is all new to me).
Any help is appreciated as I really want to produce some great vector images.
Thanks
Lea

lol, the programmes came pre-installed on my computer when I purchased it. I have had it for 7 months and have never given them any notice until I started thinking about constructing my own cabinet.
Honest! :D

MAME Power, I am also building a Transformers based cabinet. Its called the Optimus Prime Experiment. I've contracted Felsir to work on some images for me. Good luck on your project.
