The LuSiD design more closely resembles the MORTAL KOMBAT arcade cabinets, FWIW.

I second the vote for Lusid. That's what I did, anyway. Of course, to put a biblical spin on it, Lusid begat Jakobud begat my cabinet. ;D

with a larger street fighter type control panel will fix the "mortal kombat" feel to the cabinet. If there is really any in the first place.  Even if that is the case... a fighter cabinet is a fighter cabinet.

If you want my opinion, you've got it. Stay away from UII and Lusid's popular cab plans. Make something unique... You'll be very satisfied. If you're not confident enough in your ability to design a cab, go to jakobud's site and download some plans for an arcade that will suit your needs. Who says a fighter cab has to look the same as all the other cabs?
My favorite cab to date is the simplest, cheapest and most original one I've ever built.

I'm also a huge fan of fighting games, SNK, capcom, even some Power Instinct Matrimelee if I'm bored enough.  My personal cab is a modification of an original blank shell, but if I was going to build my cab from scratch I'd probably see if I can duplicate this guys cabinet: http://www.leafstation.com/ms2home.html  PhantomPower is awesome and would probably help you out in recreating his cab if you wanted.

One of the biggest problems with a lot of fighting cabinets, even in the arcades sometimes is the spacing between players.  Every showcase cab I've used has had plenty of space between players, but some basic uprights are way too close like US neo geo cabs.

Lusid plans are great, I don't see anything wrong with them, just make sure your control panel has enough space between players, make a few test panels out of cardboard and get somebody else your size on the other side to make sure you're not hitting elbows or shoulders.

btw, if you're trying to decide on the controls, I'd go with competition joysticks (very quick response, great for fighters) and either horizontal or competition pushbuttons ( horizontal for concave, and compeition for convex )

By nature this board/community will favor the Do It Yourself design and not the "buy the plans" and make this cookie cutter cab design.

I can respect that.

i know rony and i was going to buy his cab a few months ago.  IMO it looks good, but i dont think it suits what i want.

About the CP: i am well aware of that, so i will use the size of one with a trac ball, but not put it there and then just re-center the sticks a little lower and such.
