If your like me a good action/adventure game is hard to find these days.
-
Nice. I'm gonna pick this up later today.
-
hehe I played this for the first time tonight, v fun game.. Didn't think about adding it to my cab, thank you for the suggestion, should make for some fun 2P action.
-
I have it but my dumb video card wont play it.
Its funny I can play DOOM 3 but not Lego Star Wars.
What Video card are you running?
-
I have a ATI 9200se (128mb) Its alright nothing to high end. I got it for about $50 about a year and half ago.
And yea this game in a cab is GREAT!
-
hmmm, this is a fun game, mindless hack and slash fun. but im curious....will it load fine without problems into say...mamewah? can you use the joystick to select options and stuff or do you use the mouse (trackball)?
-
Yep its a great game, but you do also have to think in a few spots too... =)
Also it works great with mamewah, (Which i use on my cab), and yes you can use the joystick to select opitions and stuff in the game (after you remap the player direction buttons)
-
I just played the Demo, I am so buying it!!!
-
I take it back, I am not buying. Went to play the demo a second time and discovered that the game does not SAVE key remappings, I am not buying a game that requires me to remap all the controls each time I play it.
-
The full version is saving my keymappings
EDIT:: sorry it doesnt save the key changes. Bummer!

Can't you just set up a program like RBJoy to make your arcade controls emulate whatever the default keymappings are in this program, then set up a frontend to launch both programs at once? Or you could try associating RBJoy or a similar program to the games executable. I don't really have experience doing this in a cabinet, just thought it was possible and something to think about.
I'm downloading the demo now. Thanks for the heads-up vibez.
Cheers,

-
Good point. I could use a batch to program my jpac to suit the default game controls
-
I think someone did point this out but not sure. But yes the full game does save key remaps. I sure of it all my keys are remaped for my cab.
-
I have the full version and it saves remappings just fine, I'm not sure what you guys are talking about.
-
I bought it last night. My 8-year-old is going nuts.
-
I downloaded the demo and it wouldn't run on my current pc (bitched about the video card which seems to run most other 3d games fine like Rome Total War...it's not like it's a decreped video card!) Wouldn't even start up. I don't know if that's because it's a demo or the full version would do the same
Anyway, since it won't work on my nvidia 3d card, what are the odds it will work on my arcadevga card on my CAB? Anyone running it with one of those?
-
Great game. The full version didn't save my keys the first time, but did the next. Hit or miss, maybe?
-
That demo is a 10 hour download on dialup >:( i'll have to take your words that its good and buy it.

works fine on my arcadevga. Mine sometimes save the settings & sometimes it doesnt. I think it doesnt save them if I launch it from mamewah
-
The demo is available on the MaximumPC "Entertainment PC" Special issue. I downloaded the demo but it won't play on my emachine
-
I've spent the last two nights playing this game. It really is a blast. I highly recommend it to anyone.
-
I've just gotten it yesterday and it's excellent.
For those of you with graphics card problems try downloading and installing the latest version of Direct X (v9c), the readme says that even though it is packaged with the game it may not install correctly.
BTW it runs fine on my Radeon 9200se which is a budget card.
-
Ok, saving key mappings seems to be hit or miss, sometimes it saves them, sometimes it doesn't.
I am having one mild problem though, I seem to be getting stuck in the General Grevious level. He is standing up on a place that I can't get to. I THINK my Stormtrooper is supposed to shoot him to make him come down again, but the shot is impossible with an 8-way stick.
-
Nah, you can do it. You're actually shooting for those lego explosives near him after you create that little lego platform for him to jump on. My wife and I played through the game with 8 way controllers.
-
anyone got this working on an older model arcadevga? after the install, when i click play game, I get an error msg stating that the game requires pixelshader 1.1. I already have directx 9.0c.
-
Is it possible to get the game to quit with th ESC key?
-
Just want to chime in that I also couldn't play the game, got the same Pixelshader message and I'm pretty sure that I have the latest DirectX and a laptop that's not exactly old.
Is this game developed by Steve Jobs? ;)
I just mention that because a friend of mine had to hack the most recent version of OS X to run on his laptop just because his laptop doesn't have firewire and Apple decreed that any hardware that doesn't have firewire will not be supported. To me, there's a difference between support and making it impossible to run an unhacked update. I guess Apple needs their products to be as idiot-proof as possible, although my friend's laptop runs the OS just fine.

A lot of laptops don't have a graphic card that support pixel shaders, even brand new ones.
Make sure your PC matches the minimum hardware requirements before you buy. Especially the graphic card.
I have a GF4 Ti4800 in my cab, which is way overkill, but i least I should be able to play this game. I downloaded the demo when it came out, but uninstalled it promptly because I didn;t like hte controls for a PC game, but I hadn't thought of putting it on my cab. I agree that it's pretty perfect for a cab, and I just reserved a used copy by phone at my local computer store.
-
I tested the demo of this game.
-
I played this all weekend on my home PC (which uses an ATI 9200SE VGA card hooked to a TV) and it worked great. I just loaded it on my cab which uses a new ArcadeVGA card and it craps itself when I walk through the diner door to go into the episode.
I get message that one of the ATI drivers stopped writing to the board.
I have tried the game set to both 640x480 and 800x600. My ArcadeVGA is driving a Betson Imperial 27" Multisync and I have the drivers installed which allow the ArcadeVGA to run non-interlaced up to 800x600.
Anyone have any suggestions?
-
I've just tried to play through the 1st level after the diner with my arcadevga 9250. When the level was loading, the screen went funny then it restarted xp :(
I also get the ATI drivers stopped writing to the board error. The game disables HW acceleration on the card, then it plays ok. Very strange!
-
anyone tested this (or any other PC game) on an arcade monitor running 15khz ?
Does it look ok ?
-
looks fine @640x480
-
looks fine @640x480
What video card are you using and what drivers?
-
ARCADEVGA 9250 + latest drivers. It looks ok, but it crashed after the 1st level
-
I paid the $30 for it and waited for it to install, then when i click to start it says:
"Fatal Error: Failed to create d3d device. Application will now exit."
My computer isn't the greatest and i know that the game says that it's not supported for Win98, but i've got 750+ plus of Ram, a PIII 660 and an ATI 9600XT.
Any help thoughts would be appreciated. My kid looks like i kicked his puppy...
-
Ok, so i ran DX diag and it says that everything is ok. It ran the 3D test and everything worked fine. I made sure that i had the latest DirectX loaded and went to the ATI site to check my Catalyst drivers.
Turns out that they reccommend Catalyst 4.3 for Win98. Catalyst 3.8 came with the card so i download 4.3 and try to install it.
When the Installshield popped up to install 4.3, i accepted the agreement and it said the following:
"INF error: Video driver not found.
Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup"
I'm lost.
-
Bueller?
Bueller?
Anyone?

Lego Star Wars Requires the following:-
Win XP or Windows 2000
256mb Ram
32mb Graphics or Higher which has pixel shader 1.1
1ghz Processor or equivalent
http://www.eidos.co.uk/games/embed.html?gmid=167
You have the ram and graphics but not the OS or Processor. I've been on a few forums about this and there are lots of unhappy parents out there esecially as shops will not take refunds due to game incompatibility (how many people know about pixel shader 1.1?).
BTW the game looks like it is sposored by Nvidia, is this a marketing ploy to get people to upgrade graphics cards as it won't even play on PC's which can run Doom 3 no sweat.
-
There's a big insert about how it's sponsored by Nvidia. I had my conspiracy theories in mind at that point.
I was hoping that the OS wouldn't be a big deal (as most new games don't list 98 anymore). I figured the processor would be a problem, but thought that it might boot up and just freeze or crash. The d3d thing seems like a different problem, but you're right in the end. I should just give up hope.
Do what it says. Uninstall the previous driver and set your video cards to standard VGA before installing the new one.
How would i set my video card to standard VGA?
-
I love this game! I have it set up to work just fine on my cab. I don't know how I did it, but it's great. I have to run it at 800x600, but the remapping stays and the movements are fine. I would rank it as one of the best PC games to have on the cabinet. Also, I would like to throw a vote in there for Tiger Woods in consideration that it brings into play 3d courses like the new gt's.
-
Tiger Woods is definitely great. But the text is too small to read on my 24" S-video RCA tv. Do you have a workaround?
d.
-
Bottom line though is that i'll never get it to work on a 660 processor if the minimum is 1Ghz, right?
-
I'm sure Howard_Casto is tired of hearing me rave about this game... but I'll say it again:
Trackmania Sunrise is a BLAST to place on an arcade cab (8 way sticks work just fine for stearing.. remap gas and break to buttons and you are all set)
:o
-
I've been playing the TM sunrise demo a ton, and while I like an analog joystick, it plays fine with digital controls.
I haven't purchased the full version, though, as it would require tying up a cd drive (game protection requires CD in drive), or opening the cabinet regularly just to play a game (something I've avoided doing).
-
Yes.. and from what I understand it has a crazy Starforce copy protection on it.. so, forget copying the CD to your HD to play.

My CD Drive is right behind my coin door (so its easy to switch discs for me). And yeah,, StarForce copy protection is the best there is right now. None of the the rls groups out there have been able to crack it, YET ;)
