Ok here is my 4 player control panel so far.
-
Looks good.
But I am wondering about the position of P1 & P2 B1. It looks like you might be struggling for room underneath the CP with those buttons being so close to the front edge of your CP.
-
If your a gauntlet fan switch the red and blue.
red - player1 - warrior
blue- player2- valkrye
green-player3-elf
yellow-player4-wizard
:)
-
If you are a REAL Gauntlet fan, don't take that advice. ;)
P1 = blue
P2 = yellow
P3 = Red
P4 = Green
I like how you have the admin buttons labelled. I'm struggling with that myself, because I am very worried that I would label them and then realize later that my choices were stupid.
I think to compromise I will just add instructions to the monitor bezel in a non-permanent fashion. I think Mamewah will display instructions to the player as well, but I haven't messed with it so I don't know on that one.

I have taken that into consideration. I actually have the outline of the cp base and there is room there so no worries. ;D

If you were a TRUE Gauntlet fan, you'd know:
yellow-blue-red-green
red-blue-yellow-green
Both work depending on which game is your favorite. ;)
Are you going to curve the front panel or angle it? If you want to angle it, BB is right, watch the underside.
-
It'll be a curve..... if you click the link under the pic you will get a larger version of the pic and you can see the detail better. The white line is where the edge of the panel is.

For a second you had me scratching my head until I checked out the panel for Dark Legacy. :)

Looks great. I like the Neo-Geo and Capcom button indicators above and below the P1, P2 pushbuttons.
Also, I think your use of the admin buttons is awesome!

hmm, the yellow player (third of fourth, i'd check but i'm already at the message input page) seems to be set really far in and the other side (green?) seems farther out. i'd see about making that somewhat symmetrical, even thoguh i know that's relatively impossible. i'm not too sure about the rainbow with the admin buttons, a little too "gay pride" to me (i'm not a homosexual hater or anything, just couldn't think of a better way to describe it). other than that, it looks great.
-
Yeah I was kinda not sure on the colored gradiants... but as far as the joysticks.... the sticks themselves are exactly measured to be equally spaced. the 3 & 1 and 2 & 4 are exactly at 45 degree angles. (for stuff like smashTV) I know it sorta looks weirdish but thats because all the buttons are to the right of the stick. For player 3 that makes it look close to player one, and for player 4 it looks farther away. To keep the sticks spaced correctly thats how it looks. Don't know how else to describe it.
-
I have decided to go with a space theme. So here is a pic of what I have at this point. It really looks great at full resolution. Click the link under the pick to see a bigger version. although this is still smaller and lacks full detail you will get the idea. Any feedback appreciated.
-
It's hard not to like that, is looks very good.
-
ah, i get it....but it still looks funky. you could always to the 4th player 45 degrees to the center of the buttons. it would make it a little funy for dual joy games, but it would make the layout look more symmetric.
all in all, it's your panel, so make it what you want (aka, not what i want if that's truly what you want).
-
Been doing some work on a marquee..... Here is what I have so far. Any comments are welcome. Again, click the link under the pic for a larger version. Thanks for looking!
-
While I'm not a huge fan of the name I really like the marquee design. It looks fantastic!

Perhaps, but looks should never circumvent functionality. Design your CP to be functional and comfortable first, and then worry about how it looks. I learned this lesson the hard way. ^_^

I like the direction the CP is taking, but I'm not really feeling the marquee at this time. It looks a bit too busy in the background. This would look better with the removal of the white galaxy graphic in the center, as it doesn't seem to compliment the font in the foreground too well.
Another thing would be to try and increase the opacity of the drop shadow for the font over the galaxy graphic and see how that looks.
I have a rough example of what I'm talking about. I think putting a dark filter layer between the Galaxy Arcade box and the background starfield would make this pop a bit more:

You mean like just a dark fill with some opacity?
-
what was this designed in? what program did u use to make ur layout and such?

Actually I used Illustrator and Photoshop both. Its mostly done in Illustrator but any raster image manipulation I did was done in photoshop. (like the planets and space)
