I hear gameboy SP plays mp3 files using this device ?

Anyone have any input on this ?
???

I think that you can also play emulated games with them. I'd love to hear if someone here actually has one. If not I'll have to go for it blindly.
This place has one for 60

I don't know about Mp3 files, but it is flat out BAD ASS.
You can drop as many Gameboy Advance/SP ROMs on it that will fit. It uses a menu to select which game you want to play. It even saves your game data!
The best part about it though is a program that's called PocketNes for it. Plop that on the card and then stuff it full of actual NES roms and you have a portable NES. Playing Mike Tysons Punch Out while chillin on a plane is pretty sweet. There is even an Atari 2600 emulator for it.
I got mine from easybuy2000.com. No problems or hassles at all. 512mb is really all you need. Depending on game size it will hold anywhere from 8-20 Gameboy games or around 40 NES games. Or any combination of both!
It wouldn't surprise me if someone has an MP3 player for it. There is a whole underground for these cards. Just Google around. Here is a good place to start:
http://www.gameboy-advance.net/flash_card/gba_X-ROM.htm
Monkeybomb, the link that you posted for the one for $60 is only 256mb. Half the size. The 512mb through Easybuy2000.com for $84 is far and away the best deal out there. Not only that, there is a real difference in which emulators work on which card. I have had no problems with any on mine.
Hope this helps.

i have an old 128 mb rom cart for all my nes emulation on my DS, and a newer 256 mb cart for GBA roms
-
no you can't play mp3's with that
besides the sound on the gba sucks
-
Well . . . there is an app floating around that you can use with a gba flash cart to play music. I think its called "music player advanced" (google is your friend) ;D
You'll need to downsample mp3 (or other formats) into a further compressed format that can be used with the player - I think the docs explain this.
I've only tried it with an emulator, never actually tried it on my gba, but seemed to work OK (though quality wasn't great).
There's also an "official" mp3/video player that you can get from places like lik-sang, where you use an sd card to store the media and load it into a custom cartridge. I think it costs like $50 or something. It's being marketed as souping up the DS to compete with the PSP, but it works on the gba also.

this will play mp3's (http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=246&products_id=6239)

it's 512 M(megabits), not 512 MB(megabytes)!
What exactly does that mean? Click the link below!

I know exactly what it means..
And you STILL can fit them on there..
I have the entire collection of NES roms on my computer and it weighs in at about 120 mb. According to my calculations you'd need a 1 gigabit card to get close...
-
Yep, I've got a 128M FlashAdvance cartridge and I got my sister a 512m X-Rom for Christmas. CrashWG is absolutley right here. The 512megabit card holds about 8 gba games.
512Mb (megabits) = 64MB (megabytes)
-
Of course it all depends on what you're putting on the cart of course.
I'd estimate that about 40% are 4mb another 40% are 8mb and the remainder are either 1mb (about half of nes series for gba), 2mb(animal snap [there's probably more...?]), 16mb and 32mb (which is 99% GBA videos).
While we're here, Paul, have you tried any of the "classic nes" GBA roms on your cart? I'm particularly interested in "clu clu land" but I was wondering if any of them work because I can't get a single one to work with VisualBoyAdvance. Not that I realy need to since I have the NES roms and even the original Clu Clu Land cart for the NES but I was just wondering for when I actually save up enough for a blank cart.
I'm thinking about getting a 1g cart as there's at leats one in the <$200 range and 1g would rule! ;D Not that I would want to, but I could fit 4 GBA videos on one of them puppies, LOL.
-
CluCluLand is an e-Reader game, right? I don't think I've tried any.
You could always convert the original CluCluLand.NES rom into a GBA rom using one of those PocketNES thingys (http://www.pocketnes.org/downloads.html).
-
It may also be a e-reader game although I have not seen it in that form. It's actually a "famicom mini" game which is the japanese version of the US's "classic nes" series.

I did a quick search and it popped up as a US e-reader game on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005BREA/102-1042304-7097727?v=glance). I'll try and give the rom a whirl tonight and see how it goes.

Theres over 1000 doubles... IE, theres like 35 FF1s..
If you take out the HACKED roms, DOUBLES, and MULTIPLE VERSIONS, every SINGLE/Unique game will fit..
I know this, because ive PUT THEM ON ONE for a friend.. -_-
And that brought them down to less than 64 megabytes?

If you read my first post in this thread, ive been talking about a 512 meg card.. not a 64meg one..
And after reading your guys posts, there seems to be different cards.. because well i know for a fact that my friends is 512 megs and holds all of them minus doubles..
hmm..
-
Do you know what card your friends is?
I've never seen a card bigger than 1gigabit or one thats measured in bytes.

No idea honestly.. i just remember it was for his GBA, could play NES, and GBA stuff.. it might of been one of those ones that took SD cards in it, but i dunno.. just remember him hooking his little dongle into my pc, and putting his card onto it and saying "Dump your nes stuff onto this"
-
The SD adapters won't play GBA games though. Could you ask him what it is and where he got it? I wouldn't mind upgrading from my 128M (16megabyte) card and was going to get the X-Rom.

Yeah next time i see him (when ever he comes to town again) ill ask him..
honestly, id like to know too..
-_-
i do know it cost him an arm and a leg..

I wonder if it was a CF SuperCard (http://www.supercard.cn/eng/products.htm)?
I've been thinking of getting one since I've got a few CF cards lying around, but it doesn't support any real GBA save modes and nobody seems sure how well it works with a DS.

....wow a SNNAAAKKKEE post....been a long time since we've seen you here!...
I have the XRom it's absolutely fantastic.
It can play MP3s as noted in this thread but they suck. I've converted a bunch of music videos that look pretty decent via Meteo. There's also a slide show convertor and ton's of other stuff.
If you want a decent MP3 gadget to add to the GBA use Lik-Sang's Movie Advance. The quality of the MP3s are really good.
But if you do get the XRom the best part as noted in the thread...you can carry ton's of GBA and NES games on one cart.
I got mine at Easy Buy also and paid $150.....so $85 is a great deal!

Any emulators for SNES on the GBA yet?
*shakes head*
Likely never will be. GBA isn't powerful enough for SNES emulation.

Meh.
"The GBA isn't powerful enough to run all SNES games at full speed. Additionally, SNES Advance is still being developed; there are many features of the SNES that are not emulated, not the least of which are the SPC (sound chip) and several graphics modes"
It's already being taxed heavily, and they have a whole 'nother processor left to add.
Admittedly, however, I wasn't aware anyone had even attempted it, and I AM impressed that they have anything running, even if it is mute.
...
Ahh, speed hacks and bug patches(heh, it looks like they're even wrapping a good deal of the video work to the GBA video chipset).
Reminds me of the good ol' days, when NESticle actually WAS the best NES emulator and everyone was trying to see how much game they could shoehorn into a 486...
*gets a little nostalgic*

I know this is an old topic, but someone might like to know this is now only $69.00 at easybuy (follow the top link).

Sorry to revive the old topic but I am a noob here and had a question about this topic.
Do I need to load an emulator on the card to get it to play the roms, or will I have the full 512 for nothing but Roms?
I appreciate any help I just want to be sure before I buy. Thanks in advance!

Depends on what roms you're talking about.
GBA roms will not require any sort of emulator becuase you're using the original hardware and it knows what to do with the code.
NES roms and others that don't belong on the GBA will require an emulator.
